2010 Kickoff: Start It Off Right With Some Boise St. Bashing
Glad to see ESPN’s SEC blogger picking up the anti Boise St torch these days…in a recent article, he debates with Boise St supporter why Boise St would be terrible in the SEC. Ok, maybe terrible is a little harsh. Let’s put it this way, you would never hear the words “Boise St” and “national championship” in the same sentence.
A couple great points by Low:
Andrea, I have no doubt that the grind of playing eight SEC games would take its toll on Boise State and that the Broncos wouldn’t be sitting there with 11 or 12 wins every year at the end of the season. I have a ton of respect for what Chris Petersen has accomplished with that program, and the Broncos have proved they can beat just about anybody in a one-game situation. But playing in the WAC simply doesn’t compare to playing in the SEC. It’s apples and oranges. It’s like asking where are you most likely to be attacked by a Great White Shark: Swimming in your neighbor’s pool or swimming off the coast of South Africa?
Admit it. You probably didn’t even know Boise St was a part of the WAC. Ok, maybe you did. Great point here. Comparing the WAC to the SEC is apples and oranges folks.
Here’s the clincher:
I’m not saying that Boise State doesn’t belong in the national championship equation, especially if the Broncos are sitting there unbeaten. They just don’t belong in the title game over a one-loss SEC team. Alabama beat six nationally ranked teams last season, including four top-10 teams. Granted, there was really no debate because the Crimson Tide were unbeaten. But in 2008, Florida did have a loss, yet the Gators also beat six nationally ranked teams, including four top-10 teams. Nobody in good conscience could argue that an unbeaten Boise State team would be more deserving of playing for a national title than Florida given that same 2008 scenario.
Thank you. See you next year Bronco fans.
Let’s take a few moments to pause and reflect how great our mighty conference is. Today, when we are a mere hours away from football, it is perfectly acceptable to gloat and make fun of someone who cheers for the WAC. If you can’t find a WAC fan ( I sure as heck can’t ) then settle for an ACC fan.

I just heard Mike Leach on the radio dogging Boise. His basis was Boise can still play bad and win in their conference. However, Boise cannot play bad and beat Ole Miss or Arkansas, let alone Alabama or Florida. We are all Hokies come Monday night.
