Head Coach Bobby Petrino remained undefeated for season openers and improved his record to 7-0 as the Arkansas Razorbacks won their season opener against Tennessee Tech in Fayetteville 44-3. Petrino’s Razorbacks are ranked 17th to open the season, which is their highest preseason ranking since 1990.

Ryan Mallett
Heisman Hopeful Ryan Mallett
Ryan Mallett began what some think as his Heisman trophy season, and he certainly did not disappoint the home crowd. After a sluggish start, Mallett threw an 85-yard touchdown to Joe Adams in the second quarter to get the party started. He finished the day 21-24 for 301 yards and three touchdowns. I would say his surgery had no lingering effect today.

To be competitive in the west this year, Arkansas has to have a running game to complement its passing attack. Broderick Green, Dennis Johnson and Ronnie Wingo Jr. each had rushing touchdowns for the Razorbacks. Arkansas finished with 196 yards on the ground.

Arkansas finished with 519 total yards to Tennessee Tech’s 187 – a very lopsided difference. Arkansas gets another warm-up game next week when they play Louisiana-Monroe before they open up SEC play at Georgia in week three.
