Big Weekend For Visits On The Plains

Big Weekend For Visits On The Plains

Auburn is planning on entertaining a large number of recruits this weekend. Some are already committed, some are leaning towards Auburn, and some are high on the Auburn wish list. Along with offensive line, Auburn is seeking at least one top running back. With the graduation of Mario Fannin, Auburn has only two true running backs on scholarship. At this time, they have three RBs scheduled to visit; Savon Huggins (ranked 7th nationally), Marlin Lane (ranked 8th nationally) and Jeremy Hill (ranked 21st nationally).

Auburn is also still pursuing linemen. OL Greg Robinson, who committed last week, is going to be in Auburn, along with OL Christian Westerman, currently committed to Texas, OL/DL Stephon Tuitt and DL DeVaunte Sigler. Don’t be surprised if at least one of these doesn’t commit after their visit.

Also expected this weekend are ATH Quan Bray, WR Sammie Coates, DB Erique Florence, LB Justin Garrett, ATH Louchiez Purifoy (currently committed to Florida), CB Jonathan Rose, LB Tony Steward and ATH C.J. Uzomah.

In other news, Auburn added to their awards case last night, as Cam Newton and Nick Fairley were named AP First Team All-Americans. Lee Ziemba was Second Team All-American, and Ryan Pugh was Third team All-American.

Noted in passing. With their All-American status on the AP team, Cam Newton and Nick Fairley can now be called Consensus All-Americans. The NCAA considers a player a Consensus All-American when they have been named first team All-American on three of the five major All-American teams.

Tony Steward has cancelled his trip to Auburn, but Auburn has added Ole Miss commitment OL Aaron Morris to the visitors list. Morris is 6′ 5″ and 310 lbs. Stephon Tuitt’s teammate, DE Kenderius Whitehead, is also expected to be in Auburn this weekend. Auburn OL Reese Dismukes has also cancelled his official visit this weekend, but is still planning on enrolling in January.

“Auburn has only two true running backs on scholarship.”

    What happened to LaDarious Phillips?

      They have him at fullback.

Let me make a correction to this statement. Though he was listed as a fullback on the roster that I pulled up, I have it from a very reliable source that Auburn has been using him as a linebacker on their scout team, and training him for that position in the coming seasons.

Let’s hope Stephon Tuitt stays at ND, maybe he just went to get into Ray Drew and Savon Huggins ear to get them to come with him at ND. Plus if Cam Newton leaves…Auburn will be $hit. I also heard that Auburn is recruiting him for offense, he plays defense, and he seems to be like a kid who wants to hit someone. By the way I am an ND fan; go Irish!! (and Stephon come where you can get a great education).
