Cecil Newton On Heisman Travel List

Cecil Newton On Heisman Travel List

NEW: Discuss this topic in the Google+ community for SEC fans.

As it turns out, Cecil Newton will travel to New York for the Heisman ceremony because he was recently on the list of people submitted by Auburn to travel and get seats in the player’s section of the ceremony. You should be able to cut the tension with a knife.

I wonder if Lee Corso, Chris Fowler or Kirk Herbstreit will ask Cam any questions regarding the whole scandal? It will be very interesting to say the least with the cameras panning around on Cecil Newton.

There are a couple of things unclear about this. Is it the father or the brother who will be in attendance. Cam Newton’s older brother is also named Cecil. If it’s the father, was the travel plans made before or after the NCAA ruling? As far as I know, at this time no one is commenting, but after not being at the SECCG, I would be surprised if Cam Newton’s father was present at the Heisman presentation. I personally think it’ll be his brother.

    • I agree. No way I would show my face either. This was reported by Bruce Feldman at ESPN.

Cecil, Sr. definitely doesn’t need to be there. Cam’s win is already going to be controversial, even with the way he dominated play this year. His father being in the audience would definitely send a wrong message. Did it say anything about whether Cam’s younger brother was going to be there or not?

I think it’s likely that Cecil Newton, Sr. will travel to New York with his son. I think it is very unlikely that he will attend the actual ceremony. His attendance would turn the whole thing into a fiasco with every speaker and commentator feeling the need to pontificate on the need for “integrity” in the NCAA system. Cecil may be willing to sell his son’s services, but I doubt he’s willing to ruin his son’s big day.

Who cares? We just watched a season featuring the greatest player the SEC has seen in at least 10 or 20 years and you idiots are worried about his where his dad is going to set. You might as well figure out where Cam’s family will eat dinner that night, if Cam will sleep in a twin bed or full size bed, what’s on Cam’s IPOD…….geez.

Seriously? I mean do you honestly not see any of the ramifications if Cecil Sr. attends? I wouldn’t care if he was there personally but the media would make a fiasco of it. Do YOU want Cam’s evening ruined so the media can wring some more drama out of this? Geez. Think before you rant, HuntsvilleAccountant.
