The internet has been a buzz this week with the rumors regarded heralded freshman five-star (part of the problem is that we keep referring to these guys as five-stars) defensive linemen Ronald Powell and Dominique Easley were unhappy with the way they were being treated, were skipping practice and threatening to transfer. Veteran Mike Pouncey wasn’t shy about voicing his disgust with these incoming players. Rest easy Florida fans, both Powell and Easley have been back at practice. I’d be surprised if the Gator coaching staff didn’t smooth this out and this quickly becomes a non-issue.
In other news, it looks like Gators offensive tackles Xavier Nixon and Matt Patchan will be missing the 2010 opener due to injuries. Nixon started five games last year. Coaches Urban Meyer and Steve Addazio will be doing some improvising in order to fill the spots, including potentially moving center Mike Pouncey to right tackle.
