Fulmer making waves.  I hear that headline and I picture Phil Fulmer doing a cannon ball into a pool.  Wow, what a sight.  Ok, let’s get serious.

The Vols football program is very interesting these days.  You have a definitely rebuilding season.  A new head coach in Derek Dooley trying to rebuild the program “the right way” but not necessarily “the winning way.”  Vols fans are somewhat nervous about the future and rightly so.

Now, you have ex-coach Phil Fulmer making some headlines with some of his comments.  He’s currently an analyst at CBS.  First, Fulmer recently slammed Lane Kiffin, his replacement for being arrogant.  Comments that are fairly accurate in my opinion.  Also, there have been some rumors flying around about Fulmer possibly becoming athletic director at UT replacing Mike Hamilton (the guy who fired him).

I’m not sure how bringing in Fulmer to be AD makes any sense at all.  Sure Hamilton’s job is probably in jeopardy since the UT program has slid in recent years.  The Lane Kiffin debacle was especially damaging.

You’ve already hired Dooley.  You have to give him a chance to make it work, but he’s going to need to do more than just have the right attitude and the right perspective on football from his players.  He’s going to need GOOD players.

The UT story will continue to be very interesting both this year and in the years to come.

Another mark against Hamilton is Bruce Pearl’s stupid antics and lying to the NCAA.
