Four Heisman Finalists Announced

Four Heisman Finalists Announced

NEW: Discuss this topic in the Google+ community for SEC fans.

The Heisman finalists have been announced, and they are in no particular order of course:

Cam Newton – Auburn
LaMichael James – Oregon
Andrew Luck – Stanford
Kellen Moore – Boise State

Ahh, let’s see…the top two candidates have both been arrested in the past – Cam Newton was arrested for possession of stolen property (laptop) and LaMichael James was arrested for domestic violence charges (girlfriend).

Hopefully these kids have grown up and will make their shortcomings a thing of the past because they are both dynamite on the field. They will meet in the National Championship game in Glendale.

Can they just give the trophy to Newton already?

Let cam have it. Within 10 years it will be proven he knew about the $$ money his daddy received and I also predict he will be arrested again for something. He’s already proved he’s a low life thug.

I find humor in your choice of words. Although you criticize Cam Newton, in 2 years he will be a millionaire and you will be bagging his groceries! lol. :)

What kind of wxample does this set that the two top candidates are thugs? They should have been disqualified upon their arrest and that behavior not tolerated!

    Disgusting.

Tell Ingram’s father not to bend over in the shower while HE’S IN PRISON, you stupid idiot. Jesus, Bama fans are the stupidest people on Earth.

Not cool bout Ingram. He was not involved at all with his Daddy’s problems with the law. His Daddy never tried selling him to the highest bidder. Cant really say the same about Cam not being involved. Nobody should be hating. Cam is an awesome ballplayer, as well as Mark Ingram…. If you want to talk bout having class, well thats a different story. We all know who has shown class out of the two. What you are saying is about as classless as it gets. Wish Auburn well in the NC. But he and his father have tainted the SEC and that pisses me off.

Jennifer? Seriously? The SEC has been tainted long before Cam even picked up his first football. Do some research on which team has had the most NCAA violations. I will give you a hint. It is from the state of Alabama, and it is not Auburn.

James, I suppose by “stupidest”, you meant “the most stupid”? Stupidest is improper grammar, I’m sure you knew that, right? Being so brilliant and all! Dumbass!

Vicki, does it matter if stupidest is improper grammar? It’s not like our site is dedicated to the proper use of the English language. We’re a site dedicated to SEC football, and we welcome all comments, regardless of whether they can make a statement without making a spelling or grammar error. Here’s another little secret for you. Before you criticize another person’s grammar, you should always make sure your message of criticism has perfect grammar.

How about the word “twat”? Is that proper grammar?

BamaSoprano, Cam Newton was kicked off of the Florida team upon his arrest, but he was reinstated once the charges were dropped against him. Now I don’t know about you, bit if the charges are dropped against a person, I don’t think the arrest should be held against him. Regardless of whether the charges were dropped or not, I don’t believe what a player did two years ago should be held against him in 2010. He made a mistake, which all of us do from time to time, but moved on with his life. There’s never been but one person born on this planet that was perfect, and we’re celebrating his birthday later this month.

I’m not saying it’s right to give someone who is doing wrong a Heisman Trophy, but at the same time if someone turns their life around, I’m not going to play judge and jury. Everyone has done something in life they knew to be wrong, but most didn’t get caught and most people knew what they did was wrong and didn’t do it again. I’m not saying it’s right to steal a laptop and I’m definitely not saying it’s right to hit or beat up on the girlfriend, but if both people have learned their lesson from the experience, then they should be given the opportunity. Honestly I am not a fan of any of the players above, but I hear this better than thou art talk and it makes me want to puke….Get over yourselves already. Quit being so judgmental. I’ll let God do the judging and I sure ain’t Him. Nuff said!

  6. HAS ANYONE READ THE HEISMAN MISSION STATEMENT??? IF NOT TAKE A MINUTE AND DO SO!
IF NEWTON OR JAMES WIN THE HEISMAN THE CREDIBILITY OF THE HEISMAN IS LOST.
THIS AWARD IS NOT ABOUT WHICH TEAM(S) YOU MAY SUPPORT, IT IS A SAD DAY WHEN A CONVICTED FELON TOPS THE LIST OF CANDIDATES.
CAM NEWTON IS NOT A ROLE MODEL FOR OUR YOUTH OF TODAY.

    • Johnny Smith

Jan, I read the above statements with a little pity for the poor heartless people who are playing judge and jury to these young men’s character. Your’s is a special case that I want to comment on. There’s a difference in conjecture over allegations and an outright slanderous statement. When you state that one of these players is a “convicted felon”, you are telling an out and out lie in an obvious statement of hate for the young man. How dare someone who has no regard for the truth, and will tell an outright lie to impugn someone else’s character, question either of these players!!! You are a hypocrite of the worst kind!!!

      Commented : 901 days ago

JAN HOOBLER, First of all Cam isn’t a convicted felon and you need to get your facts together before you open your mouth. The charges were dropped if it’s any of your business. Second of all there isn’t any money trail and if they were it would lead to miss. st. regardless if it’s 2 dollars or 200,000 dollars he is the best player today.

“recognizes the outstanding college football player whose performance best exhibits the pursuit of excellence with integrity. Winners epitomize great ability combined with diligence, perseverance, and hard work.”

Not seeing your point here. Quit using talking points, do some research, and form your own thoughts on the matter. Because it is obvious by your post (and lack of factual information) that you are just another sheep who follow the ramblings of others without regard to the pursuit of the truth.

To dumb my statement down for you, I just called you an idiot.
Now in the words of WC Fields “Go away kid, you bother me.”

      Thank you for playing.

Saw a post on a bammer board by a bammer fan who said he had the Oregon car flag with the O on it. He was looking for one with the beaver on it. Sheesh, the idiot did not even know they are two different schools.

Congrats to Cam Newton the best player in college football..I have read and heard all this bulls**t about what his daddy might have done or didn’t do until its like a broken record. All the haters need to get over it. We didn’t talk smack about the almighty ingrams daddy being in the pen or we haven’t talked about Lemicheal james being a woman beater now is that a role model?

  9. On one hand it would be good for $CAM Newton to win the heisman and auburn to win the national championship for the first time cuz that would show the domination of the state of Alabama to the country, but on the other hand I hate auburn and $CAM wit a passion cuz all they wanna do is run their mouths, and whoever says that auburn is a great team needs to do some research and see that the last national championship they have is back in 1957 in which they share that wit another team where Alabama has 13 not shared wit ne one. So best believe come January 6th I will be pulling for oregon and I don’t have to pull for a SEC team to be a real Alabama fan RRMFT!!!!!!

Chase, maybe YOU should do some research. In fact, research should be a requisite at Alabama, since many of your championships were awarded decades after the season by researchers. How can you claim none of Alabama’s titles were shared?
I remember the 1973 Sugar Bowl when Notre Dame beat Alabama for the national championship. It didn’t matter to Alabama as the UPI had named them national championships before the even played for it. I’m sure Notre Dame would think their AP title for that year, along with all of the others would rate at least half of Alabama’s title claim for that year.
I can also remember the 1964 title that you claim. Again, Alabama was named national championship before they played Texas in the Cotton Bowl. Texas beat Alabama in the bowl. Interestingly, Texas only has one loss that year, to Arkansas. Arkansas won their bowl game completing a perfect season and were named national champions AFTER the bowl game. Arkansas undefeated and untied, while Alabama had one loss, to a team Arkansas had beaten. You SURE that title isn’t shared?
Need more? I have plenty of them.
Meanwhile, if Auburn used the same Bama logic in claiming national titles, we could claim eight. In fact, there is already talk of claiming 2004, since the AP and BCS don’t have an awarded champion for that year, with the other sources awarding us the championship, we actually have more claim to the title than any other team. Here’s Auburn’s eight (By Bama standards) national titles.

      1910 6–1 team (Loren Maxwell)
1913 undefeated 8–0 team (Billingsley, James Howell, 1st-N-Goal)
1914 undefeated 8–0–1 team (James Howell)
1957 undefeated 10–0 team (Associated Press, Billingsley, Fleming, Football Research, Helms, James Howell, Massey Ratings, National Championship Foundation, Nutshell Sports, Poling, Sagarin, Sorensen, Williamson, David Wilson)
1958 undefeated 9–0–1 team (Montgomery Full Season Championship)
1983 11–1 team (ARGH, Billingsley, DKC, Eck, FACT, Fleming, Football Research, James Howell, Massey Ratings, New York Times, Nutshell Sports, Sorensen, Sparks Achievement, David Wilson, 1st-N-Goal)
1993 undefeated 11–0 team (Harry Frye, National Championship Foundation, Nutshell Sports, Sparks Achievement, David Wilson)
2004 undefeated 13–0 team (Darryl W. Perry, EFI, FansPoll, GBE, Hank Trexler, M Cubed)
