Apology Letter To Jacksonville State And Their Fans

Jacksonville State Gamecocks upset Ole Miss Rebels
Dear Jacksonville State Fans and gamecockillustrated.com,
In my preseason predictions for the Ole Miss Rebels I looked past this game thinking that there was no chance the Rebels would lose this game. I went on to say. “I had to Wikipedia Jacksonville State to make sure it was in Florida. Turns out it is in Alabama. Ole Miss shouldn’t have any trouble beating teams that I know this little about.” I would like to sincerely apologize for those comments and now would like to make it public that I am now aware where Jacksonville State University is located. I would like for everyone at SDS to be aware as well; it is in Jacksonville, Alabama which is about 20 miles southwest of Gadsen, Alabama and 75 miles east of Birmingham. It’s longitude and latitude are 33.82°N 85.77°W.
I don’t want this apology to be a laundry list of excuses for Ole Miss. I honestly believe we were outplayed in this one. The Rebels got too comfortable with a small lead, and JSU had some legit talent. Their left guard, Porter is a beast and according to the announcers he is an NFL caliber player. JSU had a number of players who signed with D1 schools and for one reason or another they ended up choosing JSU, and Jack Crowe coached those kids up well. What impressed me most was the freshman quarterback Coty Blanchard. Some kids are just winners, whether they are heavily recruited or not, and they just have a knack for winning. I believe that Coty is that type of player, and I would do anything possible to try and get that kid to transfer to Ole Miss, and I’m sure Houston Nutt would agree. When he lined up on 4th and 15 on what ended up being the game winning touchdown pass he did not look nervous at all, and for a freshman in that situation, that is a great sign for the future. Then that athletic pass he pulled off to convert the two point conversion….simply incredible. Nice work kid.
I’m expecting Jacksonville State to run the table on their remaining schedule and become FBS champions. Again, I apologize for my comment, and I assure you that I will not forget where Jacksonville State University is located.
Regretfully,
Kyle Buffolino

Thanks Kyle. We will formally accept your apology as soon as the check from your Athletic Department clears the bank…
Kyle,
The Ole Miss folks were very kind and hospitable. Thanks for the fun last week with the blog. Good luck the rest of the way this season. Both of your quarterbacks looked great. Stanley really had the hot hand at the beginning of the game.
Except for the snark about not knowing where Jacksonville State was located, the apology is really not necessary. It was a great win, but if they lined up again tomorrow, any sane prognosticator would choose Ole Miss.
This shows a lot of class. Nice post. Good luck.
[...] Below is the video of the last few minutes of the game and here are some links to the various articles and my personal favorite which is an apology! [...]
Maybe that freshman quarterback will get arrested multiple times, then steal some laptops and get kicked off the Jacksonville State team… All those things happen and Houston Nutt will be all over him!
Kyle, that last comment was me. UT Martin almost got us last week too, I feel your pain…
The real apology should come for your grammatical errors, Kyle. “Their left guard, Porter is a beast and according to the announcers he is an NFL caliber player.” That should read: “Their left guard, Porter[ , ] is a beast and according to the announcers he is an NFL caliber player.”
SunDog, your post reeks of Ole Miss idiocracy. As everyone around the world saw, JSU is superior to Ole Miss. You boys are just lucky I went to the draft last year or JSU would’ve demolished the leftover decent recruits for Orgeron’s days. At least you can still beat State…wait nevermind.
[...] 11: Ole Miss beats JSU, nobody knows where JSU is located. Seriously Ole Miss? We also know JSU’s location. [...]
