Dear UGA Fans,

Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Robert, and I am a Florida fan who needs to clarify some concerns that I have with Saturday Down South. It appears that some of the editors here view Georgia as a “team on the rise”. They believe that Georgia can “push Florida for the East title.” That AJ Green is the “best wide receiver in the nation” and Aaron Murray is “the next Drew Brees….a winner who broke all of Tim Tebow’s Florida Highschool passing records.”

These claims are obviously propaganda aimed to increase their UGA following. I realize that Georgia fans are no smarter than their beloved mascot Uga, but let me state the obvious for you. Your team is not a team on the rise, you will not push Florida for the East, AJ Green is not the best receiver in the nation, and the only thing that Murray is better than Tebow at is losing.

You see, comparing the state of Georgia’s program to Florida’s is unfair. Look a little closer to home in finding an adequate program to compare yourself to, Georgia Tech. On second thought, you should strive to imitate the Ramblin’ Wreck as they are more relevant to their conference than you currently are. When your season’s success relies on the strength of Blair Walsh’s leg, a undersized quarterback, and a NFL castoff defensive coordinator, your program is in complete disarray.

I realize that UGA has October 30th circled on their calendar, as well as you should. This is your opportunity to prove to the nation that you are relevant. Your school has the opportunity to be known for more than just a drunk driving athletic director. You have the chance to prove your relevance! Carpe Diem UGA, Carpe Diem. Down in Title Town we want you to realize that, had it not been for us scheduling Mississippi St on homecoming, you would have been the fourth most exciting game in October for us. As it turns out you are our 3rd toughest opponent for the month.

Cheer up Georgia fans, the day is always darkest before the dawn. Your time will come. Mark Richt will get fired this year, Hey were all surprised he lasted this long. Pop Quiz: Who is the only existing SEC coach to have a losing record against Ron Zook? Anybody guess Mark Richt, who went 1-2 vs the fighting Zooker? Nobody….Anybody…..Bueller……

Before you run off in a fury of madness and slap your wife/sister, please remember that this is just a game. There is always next year, or the year after, or the year after that. Eventually you will all remember that you would rather spend late October Trick-or Treating than tailgating, abandon Jacksonville just as your schools talent left long ago, and look forward to the Auto Zone Liberty Bowl. Conference USA is a formidable opponent, be proud, be loud, you are UGA, and you’re here to stay!

Yours Truly,

Robert

Here is a link to the contact form.

Florida fans should go wear their jorts and daydream about Timmy Tebow. Don’t give the reader who submitted this letter (Robert) any mercy.

  2. Jenna says:

Go screw a gator, lizard lips. UGA fans have no reason to defend ourselves here. We will let our team do the defending in October when they are dancing on your endzone again, and I don’t mean they way Urbie was dancing on Teary Tebow’s!!

  3. Moggs says:

“your program is in complete disarray”……….if you want to put together a worthy piece with a lick of thought you need to do something other than bash.
It makes me wonder if you are an alum or student. Or even a dropout.

Robert…..I read your “letter” concerning the state of football at UGA. I got up, went and took two aspirin, came back are re-read your “letter”. Son, you are a fool and shall be dismissed as such. Why so much time to post something that only amounts to a massive ego defense mechanism?
Fla. may very well have a good football team….ride that while you can……the people you meet on the way up… are the ones you meet on the way down!!

  5. Robert's Counselor says:

    Robert,
Call me. I see we still need to work on that complex issue. I know that we have been working on this since Charlie Pell came but I am confident we can get there.

    All-time series 46–39–2, UGA. Enough said…

Oh and Fourth and Dumb. I played in that game.

Ah Yes The Gator Nation. First SEC Championship was what 1992? Ah Yes……”The Tradition of Wake Forest and the Ego of Notre Dame”. Ah Yes…..The team that totally cheated Arkansas out of a win in ’09. I am a believer now that Penis Pumps Do Work In Some Way? Get Some Help Pal !

  8. Cojones says:

Dear Robert. Dear, dear Robert. Still trying to win one for The Nipper, I see. Didn’t we make him cry ? I’ll bet that shaved head given by the Broncos will help him stand out in receiver practice. Or is that good to rub when they practice tight end with him in the shower? I’ll bet Moreno breaks out laughing every day he sees him. The Crier didn’t prepare him very well for the Pros, did he? But he is getting paid better than when he was getting 15-18 skins a day in the Phillippines. It must hurt your little thumpin’ heart to see your hero desecrated by the mean ole boys in the Biggies.

  9. Ed says:

    Florida Alum here…

The all-time record between these two schools is 46-39-2 (GA lead).

The record since 1990, however, is 17-3 (UF lead).

Personally, I don’t like the tone of the “letter.” It is condescending and does not pay our adversaries their due respect. The point being made is obvious, and doesn’t need to be dangled in front of the Georgia fans, which is that Florida is significantly more relevant in the National scene due to the severe lopsidedness of the last 20 years.

Despite the fact that Florida has taken 17 of the last 20 games, Georgia does deserve respect. They often play us close, and they field an SEC competitive team every year. If Georgia were not very close in talent to our own team, we would not bother taunting them.

Georgia has my respect, but my personal assessment is that Florida is the better team, by a narrow margin, and has been for about 20 years.

This “letter” was a needless jab at our Southern brethren. I always root for Georgia and the other SEC teams to be highly competitive with us. Without extremely talented adversaries in our conference it is much harder for any of us to get to the National Championship game.

    Robert,

When another receiver gets taken ahead of AJ Green in a draft OR when you can prove that Teryl Austin has ever been a defensive coordinator ever, at any level, then I will consider paying attention to your BS. Since neither will happen, I think I’m safe. I will note that it is not shocking to find a Gator insulting another team who has a former NFL DC on staff and calling him a “cast off” without realizing that their own DC is a former NFL DB coach who was I guess “cast off” when he took the job a Lizardville. They really are just that dumb. Watch this to get a sense of your average Reptilian: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MzFc9IIg7i0&feature=related

    I love Georgia.

  14. Hal says:

    Ed,
Your point is very well made and accurate. I would like to point out and ad that in those 20 years, UF has until recent years enjoyed an off week while UGA played. Even recently as UGA has begun to get the off week, the team who’s been off has won the game, almost every time.
Honest UF fans such as yourself know that the game(s) has been much more competitive than the final score(s) and record would indicate. I would personally like to have seen in those 17 years the SEC step in a correct the schedule so as not to give such a decided advantage to UF. Some UGA fans cry about the location, that isn’t and never has been the problem. UF’s recent dominance is relegated to 3 factors, 1) Steve Spurrier v/s Ray Goff?Jim Donnan, 2) Population explosion in FL=talent pool 3) the scheduled off date for I believe 15 or 16 years out of 17 being to UF’s advantage. It was simply too much for UGA to overcome.
UGA is fine, Mark Richt is fine. We’ll balance this thing out sooner rather than later. And smart UF fans should realize the need for us to. In my letter to Robert, I point out that you can’t brag about or get national points for beating a “worthless, irrelevant” team. Robert knows and so do you, since Mark has come UGA hasn’t been either (with the slight exception of last year).

  15. FRED RUSSO says:

I am afraid that Robert is right. We are stuck here in the middle of the pack and will remain there as long as CMR is in charge. CMR is simply not a good enought coach to bring us to the top of the SEC.

  16. Wiley Coyote says:

Robert, seeing the results from their 1st games this season, I must agree – a well-matched comparison requires a school other than Florida.

  17. Russ for UGA VIII says:

    Robert,
You are a jean short wearing mongoloid of epic proportions. Georgia is actually a football team, with a rich football tradition, that actually began before 1995. Please educate us all in 5 years, when your gimmick offense is out like parachute pants, and you do what fans of your nature do, and hop on the next bandwagon. I mention this while cursing your favorite professional teams, the New York Yankees, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Los Angeles Lakers….and btw, the only people that bring up for comparison that Pro-Life Ad fullback(we’ll enjoy watching him block for Knowshon Moreno)…are Florida fans.
    P.S. Nice game against Miami(OH)
