Top 10 Running Back Recruits For 2011
Saturday Down South ranks the top 10 running back prospects in the country for the 2011 recruiting class:
1. Malcolm Brown is 6’2”, 220lbs from Cibolo, Texas, and runs a 4.5 40. When you watch this kid play think Adrian Peterson. Brown is the complete back. He is very elusive and has the size to run through tacklers. He has great speed and strength coming through the line. Brown is committed to Texas.
2. Mike Bellamy is 5’10”, 175lbs from Punta Gorda, Florida, and runs a 4.31 40. Bellamy is probably my favorite player in this year’s recruiting class of 2011. Bellamy is an east-west type runner that has been criticized for his strength between the tackles. However, watch his video and just give him the ball in the open field and he will take it to the house before you can blink you eyes. Bellamy is currently committed to Clemson, but watch Florida here.
3. Aaron Green is 5’11”, 191lbs from San Antonio, Texas, and runs a 4.4 40. Green has great acceleration between the tackles. He can change direction on a dime and can switch gears quicker than Michael Andretti. He will make you miss in the open field and can bring it home. Green is currently considering California, FSU, Nebraska, and Texas.
4. Isaiah Crowell is 5’11”, 190lbs from Columbus, Georgia, and runs a 4.43 40. Crowell has great balance and speed to go along with his nice frame. He has the ability to make quick cuts at high rates of speed. Crowell is currently considering Georgia and Alabama among others, but watch the home state of Georgia here.
5. Savon Huggins is 6’0”, 200lbs from Jersey City, New Jersey and runs a 4.4 40. Huggins has great vision and tremendous instincts. His 200lb frame adds great power when defenders get their hands on him. Hopefully, he can show “The Situation” what’s up. Huggins is currently considering Florida and Georgia in the SEC and other schools around the country.
6. Mike Blakely is 5’9”, 195lbs from Bradenton, Florida, and runs a 4.45 40. Blakely will remind you a little of Noel Devine, but not quite the top end speed. He has great hands coming out of the backfield and is a do-it-all back for his team. Blakely has burst on the recruiting scene very quickly and keeps rising. He is currently considering Florida, Auburn, and South Carolina.
7. Kenny Hilliard is 6’0”, 240lbs from Patterson, Louisiana. Hilliard is your prototypical power back who is strictly a north-south runner. He has the ability with his 240lb frame to break tackles of defenders getting a hand on him. Hilliard is currently committed to LSU.
8. Dee Hart is 5’9”, 200lbs from Orlando, Florida, and runs a 4.5 40. Hart is a do-it-all back for his high school team. He has good size and strength. Hart looks similar to a bowling ball bursting through the line of scrimmage at your local waxed up lane. He is currently committed to Michigan.
9. Brandon Williams is 6’1”, 188lbs from Brookshire, Texas. He is a home run threat every time he touches the rock. He is a great east-west runner, similar to Bellamy, and hits the seam and explodes to wherever he wants to go. Williams is currently committed to Oklahoma.
10. Herschel Sims is 5’9”, 190lbs from Abilene, Texas. With a name like Herschel you have to put this kid in the top 10. Most say he reminds them of LaDanian Tomlinson. He will make you miss in the open field and seems to have a knack for making big plays. Sims is currently committed to Oklahoma State.
