Alabama’s Recruiting Wish List

Alabama’s Recruiting Wish List

NEW: Discuss this topic in the Google+ community for SEC fans.

Alabama currently has 21 commitments for the class of 2012. Headlining the current commitments are defensive backs Eddie Williams and Geno Smith.

However, for this article, let’s take a look at three players on the recruiting wish list for the Crimson Tide heading into late December leading up to National Signing Day.

1. RB TJ Yeldon – Committed to Alabama yesterday: Yeldon has been a longtime commitment for the Auburn Tigers. However, with Gus Malzahn leaving for Arkansas State, you better believe that had a factor in this tremendous running back’s decision to decommit. Yeldon has all the tools to be a great SEC running back in the future. Now that he has changed his commitment to Alabama, will he stay with the Tide on National Signing Day?

2. QB Jameis Winston – Committed to Florida State: The in-state prospect has had all Alabama fans in a tizzy because of his early commitment to Florida State. Winston is a stud baseball player who will likely be drafted very high in this year’s draft in June; so, it’s possible that neither Alabama nor FSU will get a chance to get this kid on campus. But Alabama would like nothing else than to steal Winston away and make him a Tide commitment on signing day. It is very possible we see a switch here.

3. LB/DE Jordan Jenkins – Currently not committed: Jenkins, a Georgia native, is said to be down to Florida and Alabama as his top two schools. Jenkins is a freak athlete 6-3, 245lbs, and he would play the Jack linebacker position that Courtney Upshaw has played throughout his career. Jenkins is athletic enough to put his hand down at end or be a rushing linebacker. Jenkins will be a dynamite player wherever he chooses at the next level.

  1. You missed on #1, #2 AND #3…
    1. Place kicker
    2. Punter
    3. Field goal kicker

    • You obviously know nothing about BAMA. But one can’t expect much from an lsu fan.

    • like zack said… adam griffith solves that whole “kicker” issue… and jay williams… when he gets to play… will solve that punter issue… unforchanetly… i do think adam griffith is gonna red shirt his first year just cause that is what nick saban does… he red shirts them… so he can play the kid with more experience… but hopefully not… hopefully next year adam griffith can do field goals for us and kickoffs… and jay williams can be our punter… and that will completely solve both those issues… having said that, none of these guys is in my wish list of players… not if we are only talking 3… the 3 i would want us to get is landon collins… eddie goldman and barry sanders jr… we recruited the hell outta sanders… id hate to see him at ok state just cause his dad went there, and eddie williams they say is gonna end up playing wide reciever for us, so landon collins would be an awesome pick up… and you can never have too many big skilled guys on the d line…

      • and for the record… jordan jenkins would be next on that list if i was to go to a 4th person… aint that i dont want him… just i realize alabama is probably gonna get robert nkemdiche next year… so… thinking about what can help for then too

should have put adam griffith on their, number one kicker in the nation, his highlight film is nothing but 50 yarders and touchbacks!

    • I remember watching our current kicker’s highlights and it was a bunch of the same…but somehow he now can’t kick deeper than the 5 yard line!

      • no you dont… if you go back and watch cade fosters highlights in high school, he was barely making 43 and 45 yarders then too… and not only that… he was kicking off a tee… like everyone in high school does… go to youtube and type in “adam griffith field goal progression” and check that out… foster could barely make 45 yarders in high school off a tee, adam griffith was booting 50-55-60 yarders off the ground… and cade foster is lucky to get it to the 5 yard line, as an alabama fan… i would take the 5 yard line everytime… but he can only do that once every 5 kicks… thats the issue alabama has had with recruiting kickers… they never wanna recruit JUST A KICKER… cade foster was a kicker/linebacker… cody mandell is a punter/kicker… they never went and got a punter… and went and got a kicker… where all they do… is kick and punt… they went and got jay williams to PUNT… nothing else… just punt… and they went and got adam griffith to KICK… nothing else… just kick…
