Coming into this year, all eyes were on Mark Richt and Mike Bobo from Georgia fans, and really SEC fans as well.
Georgia started slow and was, quite frankly, dominated by Boise State. The defense could not stop Kellen Moore nor the rushing attack of Boise. The Georgia offensive line was mauled and was less physical than that of Boise. That was week one.
However, slowly but surely, even after the loss to South Carolina, progress has been made. It wasn’t pretty, nor did it get them any publicity within the national picture, but the Dawgs are getting better week by week.
Games three through six were nothing pretty, but the Bulldogs went 6-0 during that stretch, defeating their nemesis – Florida – in Jacksonville.
However, last week against Auburn, this team fired on all cylinders both offensively and defensively.
Aaron Murray has been steady throughout this year, but in his last four games he has thrown for 14 touchdowns. He is playing lights out right now.
MURRAY TO MICHAEL BENNETT:
The running game is solid, but there needs to be more production. The Dawgs did rush for 304 yards as a team…a very good day. Isaiah Crowell rushed for 132 yards and touchdown, and Carlton Thomas rushed for 127 yards.
However, the biggest improvement on offense throughout this season is at wide receiver. Freshmen Malcolm Mitchell and Michael Bennett have been nothing short of very good this season. Mitchell is a true deep threat with his blazing speed, and Bennett catches everything thrown his way. These two are fun to watch. Add in tight end Orson Charles and Tavarres King, and this group is playing very good right now.
MURRAY TO MALCOLM MITCHELL:
Defensively, Jarvis Jones is playing like an All-American. He leads the SEC in sacks right now with 10 total and tackles-for-loss with 16. Defensive back Bacarri Rambo is leading the SEC in passes defended with 14 and leading the SEC in interceptions with seven on the year. These two players have helped take this defense to another level this year.
JARVIS JONES IS SACKING FOOLS:
BACARRI’S PICK-SIX:
The Bulldogs are peaking at just the right time in 2011. Even with starting slow, Mark Richt and this team have regained their confidence, and they will be a force in Atlanta (pending a win against Kentucky this weekend) against whomever they play from the West. They will match up against either Alabama, LSU or Arkansas.

2007 all over again…..Two knuckle-head losses keeps UGA out of the Big Dance but peaks at the right time for a strong run at teh end of the year.
2002 it was the lone loss in Jax that doomed them.
I can’t wait for the sec east championship game next year in Columbia, sc! Georgia and south Carolina have the potential to earn res
Respect back for the east next year.
It’s not like the USCe offense lived up to it’s preseason press. Next year you lose Jefferys, who knows what Lattimore will be like after rehab and Connor Shaw is spotty at best.
Your defense should remain good on the D line but the DB’s haven’t got it done.
UGA returns almost everyone including Murrary, Crowell, Mitchell, Bennett on offense and most of the D will be back.
The thing is though they’ll can only get better. We got the number one player in sc coming to us next year (Shaq Roland, wr) and the past two years our recruiting along the o line has been great and it should start showing. Shaw is finally getting settled in now. He may not be no Aaron Murray but the kid knows what he’s doing. Were hardly losing anyone on D and you never know, maybe alshon wants to get a degree! Oh and lattimore, wilds, and shon Carson in the backfield may just be one of the best backfields if not the best in the nation. They just gotta stay healthy. Georgia and south Carolina are gonna represent the east quite well.
Just wait until next year……..
I have hated saying ” next year is our time” Year in and year out that’s what i have found myself saying. Having said that, THIS IS THE BEST I’VE SEEN THE DAWGS LOOK IN YEARS~!!! Next year will be alot tougher schedule but, I think UGA finally finds a way to stay consistent and go all the way! All i can say is if UGA had this years schedule next year we would be an automatic into the NC game! Lets SKIN some wildcats! Then let’s murder the Bayeux Bengals!
SEC CHAMPIONSHIP: UGA- 28 LSU-27
Then we are BCS bowl bound! Bring on the SUGAR baby! Dawgs are gonna pull one of the biggest upsets in SEC history and unfortunately the SEC prob wont get a chance at the NC again this year because of the Dawgs. If the dawgs beat them then we will all know Georgia will be the real Nation Champs at heart!
Go Dawgs Sic Em
Sincerely,
A True Fan With Faith!
Next years schedule will add Bama.
The years we played Bama have turned out all right.
Year W/L Final Record
2002 W 13-1
2003 W 11-3
2007 W 11-2
2008 L 10-3
I hate the “wait till next year” saying as well. We are coming into a nice run as far as players. No one should be leaving early the next year or so. The schedule does get much harder in 2013 and 2013. Add Clemson, Bama, LSU, Auburn and GT to the normal SEC East schedule and it’s gonna by a schedule gaunlet.
Good thing they are peaking this week… They are going to need their best performance to take down this top-notch Kentucky team this week.

Have fun watching the SECCG from your couch…..while the Dawgs will be in Atlanta.
