Emotions are high and rumors are swirling over Florida Gators’ running back Jeff Demps and the possibility of him turning pro for a track career. He is an accomplished track star, and that is where his ultimate future lies. He is, however, very good on the football field, and he is a homerun threat every time he touches the football.
Most say he is 50/50 on playing another year at Florida and going pro. He has one more year of eligibility remaining.
If Demps returns, he risks a possible Olympic career if he were to get hurt on the gridiron for Florida this season.
If Demps were to leave Florida, the offense would take a hit because there is a lack of proven running backs after him. Chris Rainey was already figured to play his share this year, and Trey Burton will likely slide over to share the load at running back as well. Also, Mack Brown would have to step up.
We’ll wait to see how this turns out.
