Mississippi State had a great season, and when you have a great season coaches usually are lost. We’ve seen this with Florida over the last couple of years, and now, State’s defensive coordinator Manny Diaz has accepted the defensive coordinator position at Texas with Mack Brown.
State’s defense was third in the SEC in scoring defense giving up an average of 20.3 points per game, and they were eighth in total defense.
This is a big loss for Mississippi State.
It is unknown who will be the next DC for Dan Mullen, but you first have to look at current co-coordinator Chris Wilson.

Chris Wilson has already been announced. He was Co-Defensive Coordinator. No big loss really.
Well Wilson said he was going to change it up a bit. My question why fix it if its not broke? Makes no sense to me to change defense up, stick with what you have and go with it. 3rd in the SEC and 8th overall thats damn good. Here we go with the lets change it up Miss State routine and it will for sure tank like normal.
