For you Mississippi State fans, here’s a few odds and ends out of Bulldog country today…

  • MSU rose to #16 in the latest Associated Press Top 25 poll and checked in at #17 in the USA Today Coaches Poll, both released on Tuesday…State was ranked at #20 in each of those polls to begin the season.
  • When it comes to the five players who were suspended for Thursday’s opener, head coach Dan Mullen refuses to say whether or not they will be available for Saturday’s contest at Auburn. Those players, who were suspended for “various violations of team rules”, include Fletcher Cox, Dylan Favre, Malcolm Johnson, Blaine Clausell and Chris Hughes…Cox is the only clear starter among the group, although Clausell was expected to push James Carmon for his spot at offensive tackle.
  • We’ll have to wait until Saturday morning to find out if these guys are out of Mullen’s doghouse, although most folks expect them to be given the go ahead.
  • ESPN is sending a camera crew to campus on Wednesday to film some footage for this weekend’s edition of College Gameday. Dan Mullen will be featured on the “Mic’d Up” segment, which will be filmed at the start of practice. Mullen will also sit down for a 7-8 minute on-camera interview, according to team spokesman Joe Galbraith.
