Yeah, Bruce Pearl twisted and deceived and lost his job for it. Not saying at all that Muschamp deserves a firing, but I think it reflects negatively on him.

Oh come on. Taken out of context maybe but every coach does it. Don’t even say Tenn coaches don’t. Bruce Pearl is the master of twisting and deceiving. So do what you have to, get your players pumped.

Gotcha. Well, I still think the story here is no that Muschamp put up bulletin board material. That’s not interesting or unique in any way. The story is that he doctored the quotes he used as bulletin board material.

He may be a “player’s coach,” but I wouldn’t want to play for anyone that felt the need to be disingenuous in order to motivate me.

I saw it on GoVolsXtra before the game but again taken out of context it sounds bad. He never sounds cocky, just being confident and expressing some swag (you know the stuff that pumps up fan bases).

I agree with the above. Jon, this article doesn’t do the story justice if it fails to mention that those quotes were inaccurate. It would’ve been worth a little digging to find the real quotes. Moreover, the Hunter quote came from a video interview and hearing the tone with which he said it will reveal that the exclamation point Muschamp included is completely over the top. Hunter was simply being analytical and pointing out, accurately, the the UT receivers had a height advantage.

I’ve also never seen Rogers’ “call us Ray Allen” quote. Maybe it’s real, but I haven’t come across it.

Love how the quotes in this are all ‘doctored up.’ The UT WR’s were confident but respectful. List of quotes:

“They’re fast. But I don’t think they’re so fast where it’s going to make a difference where I can’t run fast with them, or Justin or our other receivers can’t.” -Rogers

“Throw a jump-ball or something like that, because they’re real quick and we’re real tall and fast.” -Hunter

Yeah the UT WR’s were really talking some mad trash.

That quote by Elam is ridiculous. Yes, they won with 3 yard dinks and dunks passes, so I will give them that fact. However, there was no stopping the receivers. Well, unless you count the numerous PI calls that were made, that must be what was meant about handling that situation.
