I do not disagree with you both at all. I feel Mathuieu is just the perfect ball hawk machine and knows how to create the tunrover time and time again, which is what people love to see. Tha tbeing the case, i think that is why he is getting so much love. On him tackling, i feel he is exceptional, but of course, i have seen him miss a few. The best part of LSU's defense is it's like watching a bunch of lions chasing antelope on National Geographic. They are everywhere with that speed. Make no mistake, both LSU and BAMA's defense' are electric and any other adjective you want to use, THEY are it!!! Nov 6th, both teams will be bruised up, becuase body's will be flying. Good luck and Geaux Tigahs.

As much as I like what Jadeveon Clowney has done for the Gamecocks this year, he's not even one of the top two defensive players on the team. I will make the argument that Melvin Ingram is right now the best all around defensive player in the SEC, but at this time Antonio Allen is the second defensive player on the team and a better candidate for this list than Jadeveon. His stats are comparable Mathieu's including takeaways and scores. He's not getting as much press because he plays that weird hybrid LB/S "Spur" position so no one knows what to make of him.

Have to disagree with Mathieu. Yes, he is the best defensive playmaker in the SEC but not the best defensive player. He doesnt tackle well and if you watch all of the fumbles he is playing the ball and not the offensive player, he lets someone else tackle and all he tries to do it take away the ball. While I am not dissing him about that if you put him one on one with some of the great recievers or put him in a zone by himself with T.R, Latti, Jeffery, Dyer, and other greats he will miss or alllow them to gain another yard or two during the tackle. He is a go getter but not a defensive stud like Dre Kirkpatrick who completely shuts down wide recievers and IF the QB throws it his way it is deflected or dropped after he lays the wood! ONCE AGAIN, Im not dissing Mathieu but he is a playmaker who will get burned if he doesnt have help. Every turnover has came with another LSU player hitting or being right on the player who fumbles allowing him to go after the ball but not the player.
