College football fans, you do realize we are in week 10 of this season? Where has it gone? This is the week we’ve all had circled on our calendars with LSU-Bama and Oregon-USC. It’s finally here.
Let’s do this:
#1 Alabama at #5 LSU
The entire country will be hoping LSU can upset the defending national champions. If that happens, it could likely dethrone the SEC in this year’s national championship game, as the SEC would no longer control its own destiny. That hasn’t happened in quite some time, but there’s a serious chance of that happening Saturday. This is the game we’ve all been waiting for, as the two SEC West powerhouses will play their third game within the last year. LSU won the regular season bout in ‘11, but Alabama got sweet revenge in New Orleans on the biggest stage. Who will be left standing Saturday night? The entire country will be watching.
#24 Oklahoma State at #2 Kansas State
Kansas State has two ranked teams remaining on their schedule in Oklahoma State and pitiful Texas to run the gauntlet, win the Big 12 and reach a national championship berth in Miami. Heisman frontrunner Colin Klein will remind you of Tim Tebow in his toughness, as he keeps willing his team to victory. Oklahoma State, however, is ever so dangerous and will be trying to leave a trail of tears in Manhattan. Klein is so fun to watch, and the over/under of the amount of blood on his battered body should be 1.5 locations. He takes a beating and keeps on truckin!
#4 Oregon at #17 USC
Well, this game is certainly much different than many were anticipating back in August. The twice-beaten USC Trojans limp into their own stadium against the fastest team in America. Even Lane Kiffin knows he could be in for a beating and a three-loss season with arguably the best quarterback and wide receiver combination in the country. It’s simple – Oregon’s quest for a national championship starts here, as they play three ranked teams in the next four weeks to close out the season. Gus Johnson announcing this game on FOX is well worth the watch on its own.
#16 Texas A&M at #15 Mississippi State
We venture back into the SEC for the most underrated matchup involving two ranked teams in week 10. Two young head coaches with brilliant futures ahead of them will be going head to head in Dan Mullen and Kevin Sumlin. Both are offensive minded, and I fully expect there to be points scored. Any time Johnny Manziel lines up against a non-top five defense, there will be fireworks, and he will probably put on a show if the Bulldogs can’t contain him in the pocket. The Aggies boast their explosive offense against an underrated MSU defense. This one could become a shootout.
#23 Texas at #18 Texas Tech
Texas Tech is trying to put the nail in the coffin of the Mack Brown era. Kansas almost did it last week, as Texas continues their decline in the college football world. The Red Raiders are wearing sexy new uniforms and are trying to prove the Longhorns are the fourth best team in the State. This one could be very entertaining, because Texas’ defense can’t stop air.
