The Arkansas team has a tall task in front of them this year on the field. They lost their top signal caller, who just happened to be their head coach, and this team is forced with the task of getting to know new head coach John L. Smith. Even though he coached them on special teams the last few years, the players still have to adjust to his leadership style, because this is a whole new ball game. I think Smith will adjust just fine, but the players adjusting to Smith and his style is a total different story.
However, the good thing is the Hogs have leadership and battle-tested players this year, in what could be a very big year in the SEC West.
To carry out this tall task, six captains have been awarded the privilege to lead this team through summer workouts and into fall camp:
- QB Tyler Wilson
- RB Knile Davis
- C Travis Swanson
- DT Alfred Davis
- LB Tenarius Wright
- LB Alonzo Highsmith
All six are great leaders and great football players. However, there is some legit pressure on these guys to overcome the whole coaching debacle.
