Da’Rick Rogers will actually be playing football in Tennessee this year, just not at Tennessee. Rogers will transfer to Tennessee Tech, fresh off his indefinite suspension last week.
Rogers spoke with the Golden Eagles’ coaches 48 hours after Derek Dooley suspended him indefinitely.
Since Rogers is transferring to a FCS school, he’s eligible to play right away, assuming his grades are fine. Ultimately, he will play this season and enter the 2013 NFL Draft.
Rogers’ troubled career will move on to Tennessee Tech, but so does his play-making ability.
Several people within the Tennessee program have indicated this was a series of events that led to the suspension and not just one incident. Most coaches from last year’s staff were really surprised that Dooley even let Rogers back on the team in the first place. So, his leash was short to begin with.
Rogers has a ton of talent, but his attitude and behavior have always been a little risky. You can be sure that the NFL is taking note as well.
