The media has created an ‘attack everyone else but Manti Te’o’ game plan for the Tide, but Alabama plans to take their power running game right into the teeth of the Irish defense, and that includes star linebacker Te’o.
Bama offensive lineman DJ Fluker has heard all the pub surrounding Te’o, and he and his fellow offensive linemen are ready to put a hat on Te’o and take their game right at him.
“Everybody has their own way of (challenging) us,” Fluker said. “We’re going to go right for him. He’s what they call the best of the best, gotta go take it to him.
“They have a great defensive line,” Fluker said. “They always get to the ball pretty quick. They’re basically like everybody else, almost like Georgia a little bit. They’re going to be a challenge, a challenge that we’re going to have to prepare for.”
The sexiest matchup of the entire game is the Bama offensive line going to war with the strong front seven of the Irish.
Notre Dame’s front seven hasn’t seen massive bodies pounding on them every single play from any one team yet this season. It’s Alabama’s biggest advantage, and they will look to exploit it from the very first snap.
The line will look to get running backs Eddie Lacy and TJ Yeldon to the second level, much like they did against Georgia. The Tide rushed for 350 yards against the Bulldogs, too.
