The Texas A&M-Florida game was probably impacted more by both sides’ coaching game plans and adjustments, but the game also featured two young, athletic quarterbacks in Florida’s Jeff Driskel and Texas A&M’s Johnny Manziel. Both were all-world QB studs in high school and both made their first starts for their respective teams yesterday.
The Aggies’ game plan to start the game was perfect. They let the Gator pass rush get up field and then torched the Gators with Manziel’s legs. At the half, the Gators adjusted on defense, and it completely changed the game.
Teams moving forward will likely look at the 2nd half film to learn how to contain Manziel and Kevin Sumlin’s offense. However, we can expect Sumlin’s offense to evolve as Manziel gets more experience under his belt.
Regardless, Johnny Manziel offered an exciting debut, and Aggies have a great athlete to watch in the years ahead. Against the Gators, Manziel completed 77% of his passes and ran for 60 yards on the ground.
The following are some of Manziel’s highlights against the Florida Gators:
Manziel 11-yard touchdown run:
Manziel 24-yard pass:

Manziel didn’t have a touchdown pass. The two TD’s for A&M were his 11 yard touchdown run and Christine Michael’s 1 yard touchdown run.
Correct. Fixed the typo. Thanks.
This kid is an athlete. I will enjoy watching him throughout his career.
