25 JUCO players sign with SEC teams

NEW: Follow on facebook -

Yesterday was the first day JUCO players could sign their National Letter of Intent for the ’13 recruiting cycle. JUCO players are more times than not instant-impact players because they are physically more mature than a high school player, and sprinkling in a few here and there who are ready at a position of need can add both depth and impact to a roster. It was only three years ago that Cam Newton signed from JUCO, and I think we all know the instant impact he had.

Here are the JUCO signees from the SEC yesterday:

Leon Brown, OT, 6-6, 310

Tiquention Coleman, S, 5-10, 200
Johnthan McClure, OG, 6-4, 310
Martrell Spaight, OLB, 6-0, 200
Myke Tavarres, OLB, 6-2, 220
Carroll Washington, CB, 6-0, 175

Cameron Artis-Payne, RB, 5-11, 212

Trenton Brown, OL, 6-8, 350

Steven Borden, TE, 6-3, 250
Za’Darius Smith, DE, 6-6, 250

Fehoko Fanaika, OG, 6-6, 340
