It’s not everyday you see a team physically punish the LSU Tigers and have their way with them in the second half running the football. That’s exactly what the Gators did, in an old-school football type of clash.
Senior running back Mike Gillislee wore a shirt to the post game press conference that said, “Damn, I’m Good”. And he certainly was, rushing 34 times for 146 yards and two touchdowns. He now totals 103 carries for 548 yards and seven touchdowns, averaging 109.6 yards per game. Both his scores came in the second half on drives that were dominated by the Gators’ offensive line that physically punished the Tigers down the stretch.
Florida ran for a total of 176 yards on one of the best defenses in the country, and those numbers would have been better if not for the sack yardage.
This was Gillislee’s third 100-yard game of the season, and it came against one of the nastiest front fours college football has to offer.
