Heading into week eight, three SEC East teams – Florida, South Carolina and Georgia – are all within earshot of winning the division. Of course each team still plays conference games outside of the next two weeks, but one of these three teams will win the division.
Let’s break this down a little further for each team:
Florida Wins The East If: The Gators beat both South Carolina and Georgia in the next two weeks. It’s simple for Florida because they control their own destiny, as does South Carolina. The Gators would have the head-to-head against the Gamecocks and Bulldogs and would represent the East in Atlanta.
Remaining Schedule
Oct. 20: SOUTH CAROLINA
Oct. 27: Georgia (Jacksonville)
Nov. 3: MISSOURI
Nov. 10: LA LAFAYETTE
Nov. 17: JACKSONVILLE ST
Nov. 24: at Florida State
South Carolina Wins The East If: The Gamecocks win this weekend in Gainesville. If Spurrier and Carolina can get the win this weekend it all but wraps up the East. The Gamecocks will have the head-to-head against Georgia and Florida, even though they lost to LSU a week ago.
Remaining Schedule
Oct. 20: at Florida
Oct. 27: TENNESSEE
Nov. 3: Bye
Nov. 10: ARKANSAS
Nov. 17: WOFFORD
Nov. 24: at Clemson
Georgia Wins The East If: Florida beats South Carolina and beats Florida next week. The Bulldogs are the only team of the three that needs help. And this weekend, all Bulldogs will be Gator fans.
Remaining Schedule
Oct. 20: at Kentucky
Oct. 27: Florida (Jacksonville)
Nov. 3: OLE MISS
Nov. 10: at Auburn
Nov. 17: GA SOUTHERN
Nov. 24: GEORGIA TECH
Who are you taking to win the East?

Florida really is fortunate to be playing at home against a dinged up Marcus Lattimore and a SC that just lost one of their starting DT’s. I think Florida wins this weekend and although next weekend is no breeze, Georgia has shown it doesn’t handle a great defense well so I think Florida wins against Georgia by a considerable margin. Florida will trounce Mizzou and win the East going undefeated.
I don’t think so. Georgia – Florida will be close.
very possible UF wins out to take the SEC East if they manhandle a crippled SC today………. which really doesn’t guarantee much. I’m curious to hear what happens afterward in your crystal ball…..say, around Dec. 1st ??
