Missouri has some fantastic offensive weapons, but can their defense keep them in football games? James Franklin is one of the top dual threat QBs in the country next year, assuming he returns from his surgery 100 percent, but will he actually be able to run up and down the field against SEC defenses? That’s question No. 1. And question No. 2 would be whether Missouri’s defense can keep them close enough at the end of the game. The Tigers have an overall smaller defensive line, and that could spell trouble in their new conference. [AL]

This year will be the year when all the big uglies in the trenches get their due. The SEC, and the rest of college football, is always quick to praise offensive specialists, but this year there is a bumper crop of very talented offensive and defensive linemen around the league. Guys like Barrett Jones, Jadeveon Clowney, Luke Joeckel and Sam Montgomery are just a few of a rather large sample size for the SEC. Be sure and check out the line of scrimmages this season. [AL]

Former Arkansas coach Bobby Petrino and his wife are living at The Greens on Blossom Way. Petrino recently sold both his homes, and he took a loss on his Fayetteville home to the tune of nearly $500,000. One of the perks of living in this particular community is the 9-hole golf course. But didn’t Petrino sell all of his golf gear? Hope things turn out for coach and his family. [Arkansas Sports 360]

Auburn will play Idaho in 2015. The Vandals will reportedly earn $1 million for traveling to The Plains. These two teams have only faced off one time in 1999, and Auburn won 30-23. The Tigers are currently 15-0-1 all time against WAC opponents. LSU, Ole Miss and Florida all have dates with the Vandals in the coming years, with LSU playing them this year. [AL]

Florida signee Dante Phillips loses his admission appeal. Phillips had been cleared by the NCAA to enter college, but UF would not approve him by their academic standards. The DT said he would visit Cincinnati, Western Kentucky, Miami and one other SEC school. The most likely school here for Phillips is Miami. We’ll see where he ends up. [Gator Sports]

Missouri third string QB has decided to transfer. Ashton Glaser has announced he will transfer to Missouri State yesterday afternoon. The redshirt junior from Arkansas leaves the team in good standing to seek more playing time. He said the following via Twitter: “MIZZOU has been amazing and I’ll never forget it but for now I need to do what’s best for me.” Glaser would have sat behind James Franklin and Corbin Berkstresser on the depth chart.
