Alabama DT Jesse Williams throws up 600lbs on bench press. The guy is a monster, and most have picked Williams as an All-SEC performer in his second year with the Tide. Long snapper Carson Tinker tweeted, “I saw @ThaMonstar (Jesse Williams) dominate 600 lbs on the bench this morning… Incredible”. The Australia native started every game for the Tide in 2011 and racked up 24 tackles, three QB hurries and a pass breakup. [AL]
Alabama’s OL is absolutely stacked, if you didn’t know already. Last year the OL was 1st in the SEC and 16th overall in the country running the football, averaging over 219 yards per game on the ground. Only LSU allowed fewer sacks last year than the Tide’s OL, too. G Barret Jones moves to center to be the cornerstone of the offensive line, but look for rising star Cyrus Kouandjio to be a breakout player in 2012. [AL]
It’s official: the three Arkansas players who were arrested will not play in 2012. WRs Marquel Wade and Maudrecus Humphrey and TE Andrew Peterson were arrested May 12th and charged with felony residential burglary. The trial date is set for August 27th. John L. Smith hinted at SEC Media Days that the three would not return, but he made it official yesterday. But he did leave in the possibility for them to return next season. [Arkansas Sports 360]
Tennessee fans are not up for making the trip to Athens this season. There was an email sent out to Georgia Bulldog Club members: “Tennessee recently returned a limited quantity of tickets priced at $70 each. We are extending the offer for you to purchase up to 4 tickets on a first-come, first-served basis. Contractual agreements stipulate that, for home events, schools may charge visiting teams the ticket price our patrons pay at the visiting team’s stadium. The visiting school may return unsold tickets to the home school. Those tickets are to be sold at the face value that is charged to the visiting team.” [AJC]
