Arkansas received a commitment from Safety Dominique Alexander. The 6-1, 185lb DB from Tulsa, Oklahoma, said that he has loved Arkansas since the ninth grade. Other offers for Alexander included Arkansas State, Houston, Indiana and Louisiana-Monroe. “Everybody that knows me knows that’s always where I’ve wanted to be since my freshman year. So that’s always where I wanted to go.” He becomes the Hogs’ ninth commitment of 2013. [Arkansas Sports 360]

Tiger Town is a go in Columbia on gameday. The block party will take place and will kick off for the Georgia game on September 8th. The Columbia City Countil unanimously approved street closures on Eighth Street from Broadway to Elm Street and a waiver of open container policy. “Tiger Town will be a first-class event that will make everyone in Columbia proud.” [Columbia Missourian]

Les Miles doesn’t seem too embarrassed about “#2 NATIONALLY” being on the SEC Championship rings. Here is what he said in response to a question regarding the rings: “Let me tell you what they say first: they say SEC champion,” Miles said. “The idea that we carried the No. 1 tag for 11 straight weeks and the best record in all of college football, we needed to put something on there that said the reality of that on the ring and said we didn’t get it all done. I don’t think anyone has to remind them any more fully than that montage that introduced us.” [The Advocate]

Two DBs, Sam Gibson and David Jenkins, have left the LSU football program. Gibson is from Alabama and played in five games last season. Jenkins is from Lousiana, and he did not play a snap last year. Both were probably going to be backups again this year; so, they are leaving in search of more playing time, I would assume. Ronnie Vinson, another DB, transferred this past May. [The Advocate]
