The third and final day of SEC Media Days 2012 has come and gone.
And sadly enough, that’s the way the season will wind up, flashing before our very eyes. Come November, we’ll be asking ourselves what happened to us for three months and where it went.
We’ve already looked at day one and day two quotes. And with Derek Dooley taking center stage, we knew there would be some Dooley-isms. But the day belonged to the defending national champion head coach Nick Saban and his hand gestures.
“I was even going to consider wearing a visor on the sidelines this year. I’m afraid I’d throw it.” – Nick Saban, on Steve Spurrier
“It’s human nature to relax after success… Success should be defined by consistency in performance.” – Saban
“High achievers don’t like mediocre people and mediocre people don’t like overachievers.” – Saban
“Anyone making a statement about conference champions is really making a statement against the SEC.” – Saban, on playoff criteria
“In some cases, the SEC Championship Game is a tougher and more physical game than the National Championship.” – Saban
“It’s hard to win in this league without some special defensive linemen.” – Derek Dooley
“You’re not going to have Tennessee to kick around anymore.” – Dooley
“Oxford is a great place. If you want to tweet that out, that’d be great.” – Hugh Freeze
“2013, I think they’re on our schedule. We will circle that date and look forward to maybe changing his perspective on Ole Miss football.” – Freeze, responding to Steve Spurrier’s jab yesterday
“I don’t feel Coach Dooley is on the hot seat. Our team is on the hot seat.” – Tyler Bray
“SEC defenses are very athletic; we fast; we big. SEC has the best defenses. That’s been proved over the past few years.” – Jarvis Jones
