SEC players who could be early entries in NFL Draft

Here’s a premature look at some early entries in the NFL Draft this spring. These are all underclassmen eligible for the draft, and it’s a speculated list full of assumptions. We won’t know for sure until every team’s season is over.

I don’t necessarily think all of these players will enter the draft, but they are candidates to leave early.

Alabama

DJ Fluker, OT
Eddie Lacy, RB
Dee Milliner, CB
CJ Mosley, LB

Buzz: Alabama could lose all of DJ Fluker, Eddie Lacy, Dee Milliner and CJ Mosley, but it’s reasonable to think Lacy will return. Lacy would be the likeliest of the four to return, seeing that he’s not even the best running back on the team, while Milliner is a lock for a big-time corner in the draft. Fluker would likely leave early, too.

Auburn

Corey Lemonier, DE

Buzz: I think it’s safe to assume Corey Lemonier will jump to the NFL. He’s a fantastic DE who has a huge upside at the next level. It’s more enticing for him to leave with the mess and uncertainty at Auburn.

Florida

Dominique Easley, DE
Matt Elam, S
Sharrif Floyd, DT
Jordan Reed, TE

Buzz: It’s likely all of Sharrif Floyd, Matt Elam, Jordan Reed and Dominique Easley enter the NFL Draft early. Floyd projects as a high pick at DT, and Elam is NFL-ready right now. Reed and Easley may be a bit of a stretch, but they are great players and will likely leave early if they are graded high.

Georgia

Jarvis Jones, OLB
Aaron Murray, QB
Alec Ogletree, LB

Buzz: Jarvis Jones and Alec Ogletree should enter the draft early and project as high picks, while Murray may want to return to school for his senior season. If you remember last year, Murray was evaluated and considered (maybe for a minute) to leave early as a draft-eligible redshirt sophomore. We’ll see what he decides this season.

LSU

Barkevious Mingo, DE
Kevin Minter, LB
Sam Montgomery, DE
Eric Reid, S
Bennie Logan, DT

Buzz: With Barkevious Mingo and Sam Montgomery projected to be first rounders, it’s safe to assume they will forgo their senior season. Likewise, Reid has tremendous upside and Minter is one of the best linebackers in the country who has drastically increased his draft stock this year alone. All five could leave LSU early.

Missouri

Sheldon Richardson, DT

Buzz: Laugh all you want, but Sheldon “Old Man Football” Richardson is playing like a future NFL player. He’s been a big bright spot at a position of need for the Tigers, and he’s been very impressive in every game he’s played in. He’s the one guy on defense who has stood out for Mizzou in a defensive-minded league.

Tennessee

Tyler Bray, QB
Justin Hunter, WR
Cordarrelle Patterson, WR

Buzz: Of the three above players, Tyler Bray is the least likely to enter the draft. He’s physically ready for the next level, but is he mentally ready? I think it’s safe to assume that Justin Hunter is a lock for the draft based on upside alone, and Cordarrelle Patterson is really coming on strong as a big-time playmaker as the season is winding down. All three could leave early, especially depending on what happens to Derek Dooley.

Texas A&M

Luke Joeckel, OT
Jake Matthews, OT
Damontre Moore, DE

Buzz: We hear a lot about Johnny Manziel, but Luke Joeckel and Jake Matthews have been maulers up front for the Aggies’ offensive line and are a big part of the reason the Aggies’ offense is so successful. We could see Joeckel and Matthews jump to the NFL, but both have younger brothers on the team. We’ll see if that sways their decision to leave early. Damontre Moore is having a monster season and is a lock for the NFL Draft.
