We are sitting in the middle of May awaiting the dog days of summer. But it’s never too early for a way-too-early preseason top 25, right?
ESPN.com released their way-too-early predictions, and six SEC teams were included in the top 25.
Here is the ranking:
8. West Virginia
10. South Carolina
11. Michigan State
17. Ohio State
18. Kansas State
22. Oklahoma State
23. Virginia Tech
25. Georgia Tech
- LSU is right where they should be, while Alabama is arguably where they could be. The Tide is returning some great players, but the defensive holes left from the bumper crop of NFL talent is pretty big. Yes, I think Alabama can recover from all those losses, but they will lose some football games.
- Georgia has all the talent in the world and the easiest road to the promise land. However, Georgia always has the talent, and the key will obviously be whether these guys play together and Mike Bobo does his job calling the plays.
- South Carolina, Arkansas and Florida are all ranked about where they need to be. I might even move Florida down in the top 25 slightly, only because the offense will be average at best. But all in all, the Gators are a top 25 football team.
