Alabama reportedly interested in playing a game in Ireland

Irish news website The Score is reporting that Alabama is interested in playing a game in Ireland.

Much like last year’s Emerald Isle Classic between Notre Dame and Navy, Ireland is interested in hosting more American football. The Score said talks are underway to host games in 2014, 2016 and 2018. Alabama is among four teams mentioned in the article as being interested in playing there, along with Penn State, Notre Dame and UCF.

UCF and Penn State are reportedly set to announce their game on Sunday.

Alabama already thumped Notre Dame, and they now want to move in on the whole country of Ireland.

  1. As a born Irishman and and a lifelong Bama fan (and alumni), I more than welcome this idea.

  2. Not an Alabama fan, but I like the idea of the SEC dominating on two continents.

  3. If ND played Bama in the Vatican w/ the pope working the replay booth they still wouldn’t win…surely they wouldn’t want to take that kind of beating in the motherland either. Bet they play UCF.
