Cam Cameron officially named OC at LSU

It took a week for LSU to name Cam Cameron its new offensive coordinator. The Times Picayune first reported it last Friday, and then everyone caught wind of it. LSU introduced Cameron today in a press conference, and he spoke to the media.

Some notable quotes during his presser:

  • On Zach Mettenberger: “I’m all ears at this point. A guy gets into his 4th or 5th year, there are certain things you like to do. What does he like most? And then you talk about why do you like that? That doesn’t mean we’re not going to challenge Zach. We are. I think you really need his input. These kinds of quarterbacks (Drew Brees, Phillip Rivers, Joe Flacco), you can learn so much from them, especially when they communicate with you at a high level.”
  • Adapting his game to LSU: “It’s my job to adapt and adjust and then bring my expertise and blend it to what we’re doing.”
  • On the possibility of disagreeing with his friend Les Miles during games: “The bottom line is we’re all in it together. Brothers fight like brothers sometimes, but we all know what’s the most important thing.”

The biggest question we have is that even though Cameron brings a big name and sexy resume, can he ultimately develop Zach Mettenberger and the LSU offense?

As expected, with Cameron’s hire, former offensive coordinator Greg Studrawa will coach just the offensive line and former quarterback coach Steve Kragthorpe moves to an administrative role.
