Miss State LB dismissed after arrest

NEW: Follow on facebook -

Mississippi State announced last week that senior linebacker Chris Hughes had been suspended indefinitely from the football team with no details. Now we know why.

Hughes was arrested on May 24th on third-degree assault and third-degree domestic violence charges in Mobile, Alabama, where Hughes allegedly struck his girlfriend multiple times in the face.

This marks the third time Hughes has been arrested for a domestic violence charge in a two-year span. He was arrested in 2011 twice on assault and domestic violence charges. Hughes served five days in jail after he was found guilty of that domestic violence charge.

MSU announced yesterday without comment that Hughes is no longer on the team.

Hughes saw action in 16 games over the last two years.

Hughes is still in the Mobile County jail waiting his July 10th court date.

  1. It’s almost overnight MSU is falling faster than Auburn ever thought of.. Seriously hate seeing the state program heading in this direction I was looking forward to a even playing field when it came to the Egg Bowl.. However it looks as if the programs are just heading in the opposite directions… Yet again.
