Moving Egg Bowl back to Thanksgiving is a good move

“Back where it belongs.”

Per ESPN’s Brett McMurphy, the Egg Bowl has been moved back to Thanksgiving on November 28th at 7:30 PM ET.

It’s no secret that officials at both schools wanted this move to happen. Thanksgiving rights on ESPN bring a massive amount of exposure and eyeballs for both schools.

The Egg Bowl was played on Thanksgiving night from 1998 to 2003, six consecutive years, on ESPN.

It was reported last year that ESPN officials wanted an SEC game on Thanksgiving night, but the Egg Bowl wasn’t the ideal game for that to happen.

The Egg Bowl is one of my favorite rivalries, and the implications for both schools are quite heavy. Not to mention a heated rivalry is great for family time over Thanksgiving dinner, right?

Ole Miss holds a 61-42-6 all-time record against Mississippi State.
