Along with the SEC finalists, FSU QB Jameis Winston, Boston College RB Andre Williams and NIU QB Jordan Lynch.

Winston is figured to be the heavy favorite for the award.

AJ McCarron, QB, Alabama
Stats: 207 of 306 (67.6%), 2,676 yards, 26 TDs, 5 INTs
Buzz: AJ McCarron makes his first trip to New York as a Heisman finalist. He has led the Crimson Tide to back-to-back national championships, and McCarron has guided the Tide to a 36-3 career record with one SEC Championship in 2012.

Tre Mason, RB, Auburn
Stats: 283 carries, 1,621 yards, 22 TDs
Buzz: Tre Mason has been the country’s hottest running back down the stretch, and he’s coming off a 304-yard, four-touchdown performance against Missouri in the SEC Championship. Mason is ranked sixth in the country in total rushing yards, and he’s rushed for 868 yards and 13 touchdowns in the last five games.

Johnny Manziel, QB, Texas A&M
Stats: 270 of 391 (69.1%), 3,732 yards, 33 TDs, 13 INTs; 133 carries, 686 yards, 8 TDs
Buzz: The reigning Heisman winner didn’t have enough mojo to finish 2-0 against LSU and Missouri, and that will keep him from winning the award in back-to-back seasons. He’s totaled 4,418 yards and 41 TDs in 2013, but it ultimately will come down to the ‘4’ in the loss column.

  • I dont like Auburn but damn that Tre mason is a beastly AMAZING RB!!! he deserves the Heisman by far IMO!!

  • The funny thing is (not ha ha) I would rather have Aaron Murray or Conner Shaw on my team than any of those three. .

  • My Rankings out of the finalists:
    1. Williams: dude has over 2k rushing yards on a very mediocre team with 3 games over 200 yards and one over 300. Plus he rushed for 149 yard vs FSU’s loaded D. He just hasn’t gotten the media. Plus this kid has a 3.0 GPA and a degree in Psychology and is documented as an outstanding influence on freshmen.

2.Winston: There is something disturbing about how the DA handled that Press Conference that has me wondering about that incident. Plus nobody even came within 20 points of beating them besides BC and Williams (above) as they were never really tested.

    3. Mason: System makes you overlook the Gawdy stats just a bit but ya can’t deny he is a stud.

    4. Lynch Dude has basically put NIU on the map and helps in the community but needed that last win.

    5. McCarron: Good kid…solid QB…but Not a career achievement award

    6. Manziel: Gawdy stats as usual for a Sumlin QB, and undoubtedly exciting to watch him go but JFF made too many dumb mistakes and 25 yard drop back bombs don’t always land in Mike Evans’ hands. 0-4 against ranked opponents doesn’t help either but at least he will get to pick on duke in the bowl game.

EXACTLY MY POINT !! Would rather have a crippled Murray and a lame Shaw anyday! Over a Johnny “Dumbass” Football , Tre Mason or even the mediocre AJ MCcarron.

  • Correction an AJ McCarron,
McCarron has guided the Tide to a 36-3 career record with 2 SEC Championships in 2011 and 2012.

  • Although I’m almost confident that the heisman will be given to Winston, what an honor for the SEC to have 3 finalists

  • McCarron is a winner . Without a doubt. He has the best Resume and body of work for Ala . Still there are dozens (in my opinion) that could have done that at Ala with the supporting cast. If Murray or Shaw played for Ala they would have been better. UGA or USC would not have been better with McCarron. I’m glad he’s going to NY

  • The Heisman is Winston’s. Mason made a great push with his performance in the SECCG, but voters’ minds were made up already and the only thing that would have changed it would have been a poor performance by Winston against Duke.

  • Winston is pretty obvious there dawg.

    • Obvious to you and me, maybe. But just from the small sample size of the above comments, some people think Williams or Mason should win it. I also guarantee some think McCarron should win it. So, don’t take a shot at me because you think my statement is so obvious that it’s pointless to make.
