  • Surprised LSU is ahead of Ole Miss since they have 0 signature victories in the BCS computer system. None of that will matter after next week, however. Go Rebs! Beat Mizzou!

    • How about the #6 ranked team, Auburn?

      • While I don’t know that we are the second best team in the SEC, we did beat UGA with Gurley back. That was a very good UGA team that we played. Mizzou and SCAR seem to be on relatively equal footing to AU, but have lost games they shouldn’t have lost. LSU is a good team and has a schedule nearly as tough as Ole Miss. All that being said; Mizzou, Scar, Auburn, and possibly A&M should be in the top 10 above Ohio State, Baylor, Clemson, Stanford, Oregon, etc. That’s ridiculous that Oregon and Stanford are in the top 10 still.

        • ^Way too long winded for my first posting….

        • Did you really BEAT UGA or did you get REALLY lucky? That’s was Georgia’s game all the say until a fluke play basically put the ball right in the Auburn receiver’s hands! Granted, Auburn is a great team but after being outplayed in the 4th quarter don’t see that they earned moving up in the polls.

        • Had Georgia had all their players back I doubt seriously AU could have won Marshall and eight others out for the season. Alabama by 17 at the Barn.

        • Tigerfan, not too long, thanks

Arrowsmith, depth is an important consideration for ranking

      • I don’t think you understand how the BCS computer system works, LSULaw. It plays off of what the teams were ranked when you played them. Auburn was unranked when LSU beat them, which gives LSU 0 wins against ranked teams.

    • Alabama and Missouri for the SECCG.

  • I’m surprised that you can lose to TWO unranked teams and still be in the top ten!! (Stanford)

    • Paula, I trully don’t see it that way. We were beating UGA pretty convincingly, but instead of rushing and playing OUR brand of football, we had bad play calling. When you are up by 3 touchdowns, you know you should run. But we were too busy trying to convince everyone that we COULD pass the ball. We barely can and that’s no secret. UGA came back because Murray is one of the best players in the country and we shot ourselves in the foot by stopping the clock with pointless pass plays.

  • Born and raised Bulldog. I’m find with Auburn moving up. Georgia did have Gurley and Bennett back. Still short Marshall and two starting receivers (two fastest guys on the team and usually on the field). Georgia’s game plan clearly was to run Gurley and control the ball. Auburn had the same plan with their backs. Their plan worked, Georiga’s did not. Once Georgia went to the short pass and started moving the ball, it did tow things. It opened up the run and it allowed it’s defense to stay off the field. The payoff came in the 4th quarter. By then, Georgia was blitzing on a regular basis and loading up the box. It worked. Hey, Georgia had Auburn 4th and a half of mile. The ball should have been knocked down. Instead it was popped up and went forward. If it goes straight up sideways or backwards, Georgia’s in the Top 15 and Auburn falls to 17. That’s the breaks. Will not matter. Alabama will set up the run with the pass and Alabama already blitz’s on a regular basis. The Georgia game verified what the Bama coaches already suspected. This game matches up very well for their players and schemes. As for my Dawgs – it’s been that kind of year. Injuries and bad bounces and bad calls and some bone head plays did them in. The good news is that 9 return on defense and 7 return on offense. Lots of playing time for freshman and sophomores. The future looks bright. Finally – Georgia played Alabama in the “best game of the year” last year. And the Auburn game is shaping up to be “the best game of the year” this year. I’m proud of how they played in both of those games, especially in the comeback on Saturday. Eventually the ball bounces in your own favor – looking forward to that. CMR deserves a National Championship – hopefully it will come soon.

    • Richt is a hell of a coach and you guys are more than deserving of your success in the future. I’m just upset that Murray won’t be a part of it. Thats a good kid and a great QB.

  • richt is a good coach. but he needs to get a defensive coach. I know their young but they have talented players. the missed tackles and blown coverages are all a lack of preparation and bad practicing. which is all in the coaching

  • Seven SEC teams in the BCS. I doubt any conference has anything close and the crying will be huge over this.

  • Why does South Carolina always drop in the standings after a win? We dropped from No. 10 last week to 11 this week! We’re better than Mizzou, and I’m confident we could beat at least half of the teams in the top 10

    • Against Missouri, South Carolina was the second strongest team 2012, credit their coaching staff, special teams, and defense. 2013 It’s hard to say which team was better. Spurrier had to risk everything including a quarterback he might have lost for the season. Missouri, also because of record, had the luxury of not letting the 2nd quarterback run the ball (a huge part of their playbook). Even after that, one of the better field goal kickers in the NCAA had to miss one medium range and one point blank kick for SC to win. There is something in South Carolina that makes them inconsistent and this year is no exception. Missouri on the other hand has hot and cold spells within a game, but seems to show up well every week. All said South Carolina could be ranked higher but Missouri could be ranked even higher than that
