James Franklin upset the masses last month when he voted Notre Dame 4th behind three SEC teams in his season-ending coaches poll.
After getting some love on Twitter Monday night after Alabama crushed the Fighting Irish, Franklin said the following:
“Again, I wasn’t doing it out of disrespect to anybody else,” he said. “It was just an opinion based on film and research that I had done throughout the year, and my respect for this conference.”
Kudos to Franklin for not being afraid to vote how he wanted. In hindsight, he obviously looks good regardless of his intentions. Unfortunately, most polling is nothing more than groupthink – voters voting the way other voters do.
In other news, Vanderbilt finished the season ranked for the first time since 1948.
