Hugh Freeze and Ole Miss are stealing the show and winning National Signing Day, and the reality of a top-five class is in the works.
Entering today, we knew Ole Miss would have a great finish, but there were a couple prospects still deciding in Laremy Tunsil, Chris Jones, Austin Golson and Tony Connor.
The biggest hurdle was over at 7:45 AM this morning when the top prospect Robert Nkemdiche announced he would sign with Ole Miss.
Next, top 100 prospect in offensive tackle Austin Golson announced he would sign with Ole Miss, too.
The next commit would arguably cement the Rebels’ offensive line for at least three or four years to come in top offensive lineman Laremy Tunsil. Tunsil had been a Georgia lean, but Ole Miss stole him away with two weeks left in the game. He visited Ole Miss and fell in love, and he announced today he’d be attending Ole Miss.
Ole Miss did miss out on five-star defensive end Chris Jones, who was committed to Mississippi State already. Jones announced he would stick with his MSU commitment and sign with the Bulldogs. Elijah Daniel also spurned Ole Miss and signed with Auburn, but he could have trouble qualifying.
Five-star safety and Mississippi native Tony Conner is next to choose. He’s likely Ole Miss bound, too, and he will select a school at 10:45 AM ET. If the Rebels land Conner, they could jump up to the No. 3 class in the country.
Ole Miss expected to have a big day, and they are truly having arguably the biggest day in the country.
Hats off to you, Hugh Freeze.
Updated: As expected, five-star safety Conner picked Ole Miss over Alabama and others. The Rebels are loading up for the future.
