After what some are calling the $37 million season at A&M, athletic director Eric Hyman is bumping up the compensation for his football coaches. Head Coach Kevin Sumlin is one of the hottest coaches in the SEC, and the entire country, right now, so it is no surprise that Sumlin will be getting a raise and extension.
Terms of the agreement have not yet been announced, but A&M has announced an agreement in principle. Additionally, A&M will be increasing compensation packages for the assistant coaches on the team.
Rumors are that several major Universities and even a few NFL teams expressed some degree of interest in hiring Sumlin, so A&M was sure to respond with a raise after the outstanding season and Cotton Bowl victory over Oklahoma.
