The first official AP Top 25 was released today, making it the second official poll since the start of August. The SEC also dominated the USA Today Coaches’ Poll, which was released August 1st.

  • Oregon isn’t better than Stanford, and there’s too much emphasis put on Louisville for how they played in the bowl game. Also think Notre Dame is ranked too high seeing they lost their starting QB

    • You may be right about Oregon and Stanford, but i believe Louisville showed all last year that they are for real! Bridgewater is real good. I think they’ll go undefeated, but be bounced from the National Championship because their schedule is horribly weak. Honestly the same could be said for the Buckeyes! Other than those two teams, all the other Top Ten teams play other Top Ten teams, especially my Georgia Dawgs, who play South Carolina, Clemson, and UF…and hopefully cheap-shot Bama again…!!

      • “and hopefully cheap-shot Bama again”
Uhhh, all I can say is be careful what you ask for. If you’re alluding to the shot Erin Murray got when he was trotting toward the return man after he got picked, remember that once the turnover occurred, he became a defender, not a QB, and he was headed in the direction of the return, in fact the play ended about 5 yds from where he got decleated.. Maybe you were confused and remembered your players trying to eye-gouge Bama’s players after plays had ended.
Either way, doesn’t matter. Know this. If Jawja plays in Atlanta this year, it’ll be in the Chick-fil-A Bowl. But you better make your reservations for Shreveport. With the casinos, the rooms tend to fill up quick.

  • Sorry, but are we putting Ohio state #2 because we think they’re the 2nd best team in the country, or because they have the easiest path to the BCS? I would put Ohio State more like 7 or 8. I’m starting to fade a bit on Texas A&M – I’d maybe have them in the 10-12 range. Louisville should be lower for sure.

    • 1) Ohio State is ranked second because they went undefeated last season. Something no other team was able to do.

      2) Texas A&M won’t be nearly as good as last season. I have this feeling that is telling me to sell now before it is to late.

      3) We need to stop judging teams based on conference. I mean I love the SEC, and it is easily the best conference. But Louisville deserves some love. They beat Florida in that game last year. And yes. It is last year. But they retained basically their entire team. I’m all for dropping them hard and fast if they lose, but until they do they are the Sugar Bowl’s most recent winner.

  • Also, can we please talk about how there are no Big 12 teams in the top 12, yet there are SIX SEC TEAMS. Paging Bob Stoops. Oh, that’s right, the Big 12’s crappy teams are just as good as the SEC’s crappy teams, right?

  • I will take Ole Miss an Vandy over ND, USC and about 3 other teams ranked here also

  • A much better list than what those monkeys at SI put together a few days ago.

  • Stanford’s getting a bit too much love this preseason, but again, I’m not terribly concerned about preseason polls. The true quality of teams is almost always evident after a few games.

  • Just wondering, but is the four team playoff thing gonna have its own poll like the BCS or are they just gonna go by the AP and Coaches polls

  • ….If you rank the top 10 as, South vs. north…We (South) would dominate with 7 out of 10. 70% “ain’t too bad”….GO DAWGS!

  • Am I the only one who doesn’t want to play ohio state in the championship? I’d rather play oregon or stanford!

    • All three would be pretty good games but I’d love to see the fear in Meyer’s eyes with Saban on the opposite side of the field again.

    • Out of the 3…I actually think Oregon is the scariest…because of the speed…but Stanford has some big boys up front that could possibly line up and go toe to toe in a lower scoring affair. OSU is just a mystery to me…I didnt see em play one game last year just remember them somehow winning them all.

  • Week 1 SEC Winners and Losers:
    South Carolina 21 – North Carolina 17
    Vandy 24 – Ole Miss 17
    Florida 28 – Toledo 3
(assuming Manzeil is playing) Texas A&M 49 – Rice 10
    (without Manzeil) Rice 17 – Texas A&M 14
    Oklahoma State 31 – Miss State 12
    LA-Lafayette 10 – Arkansas 3
Alabama 28 – Virginia Tech 3 (28 only because Bama will run the ball most of the time)
    Tennessee 48 – Austin Peay 7
Auburn 17 – Washington State 13 (Interception on a QB hurry ends it)
    Western Kentucky 23 – Kentucky 7
Murray State 10 – Missouri 9 (Missed field goal at the end of the game loses it)
(This one is a little difficult) Georgia 35 – Clemson 34 (Clemson takes a 34-28 lead and Murray leads a come back victory in the last minute and a half)
    Finally one!
TCU 56 – LSU 42 (Really don’t expect LSU’s defense to show up against TCU’s high powered offense and we all know TCU has a horrible defense)
All games are in order from when they start. Just my predictions on the games. Don’t care what you guys think

    • I really don’t think Manzeil is worth 35 points. He was dynamic last year but teams have a year’s worth of tape to scheme against him with.

    • LSU won’t give up 56 points…may not give up half of that… I think the UGA/Clemson game gets into the 40s…Kentucky wins, ARK wins, Mizzou wins, Ole Miss beats Vandy by two scores, Florida gets an early scare from Toledo, and aTm wins even if I’m playing QB.

  • These polls shouldn’t be relevant until 1 October. The issue with some teams starting out so high is if they never lose they never go down, with some exceptions of course. If tOSU wins out they will be in the BCS game. A crime considering they have said Northwestern might be their toughest game all year. I’d put 6 SEC teams ahead of tOSU easily.
