11 SEC teams predicted to go bowling in 2013

Long-standing and well respected college football publisher Athlon Sports has 11 SEC teams playing in bowl games. You can see all 35 bowl projections here.

The BCS bowls include Alabama and Georgia, with the Tide playing in the national championship against Ohio State. Georgia is projected to play in the Sugar Bowl against SEC-killer Louisville.

Here are all 11 SEC teams’ projections:

BCS National Championship Game: Alabama vs. Ohio State
Sugar Bowl: Georgia vs. Louisville
Capital One Bowl: Texas A&M vs. Wisconsin
Outback Bowl: Florida vs. Nebraska
Cotton Bowl: LSU vs. Texas
BBVA Compass Bowl: Mississippi State vs. UCF
Gator Bowl: Vanderbilt vs. Michigan State
Chick-fil-A Bowl: South Carolina vs. Florida State
Liberty Bowl: Tennessee vs. Tulsa
Independence Bowl: Auburn vs. NC State
Music City Bowl: Ole Miss vs. Georgia Tech

The SEC teams left out? Arkansas, Kentucky and Missouri.

Out of the three that’s left out, I would argue that Missouri has the best chance to go bowling – although they didn’t exactly make anyone feel comfortable last season, did they?

  • That looks about right. I’d take Tennessee off this list based on their tough schedule and no talent roster.

  • I agree Mizzou has a solid chance to go bowling. the non-con is a joke, Murray State, Toledo, At Indiana and Arkansas State… That means just two conference wins should get us in barring a slip up, which Mizzou has been known to do from time to time. I think between Kentucky, Tennessee, Ole Miss and Vandy we pull out two wins and get to 6. For the record Chase Daniel never lost a non-con game except the Sun Bowl his sophomore year. Go Tigers, Go Chiefs

    • I hang that 39-38 loss int he 06 Sun Bowl on the crappy defense we had that year too

    • Chase Daniel also hasn’t been in school pretty much since Obama took office. (and when he did leave, he did so to go to the draft… where he went undrafted)

I’m highly skeptical Ol Miss or even Vandy will lose to Mizzou.

  • With all due respect – honestly – this is just re-hash based on the last couple of years. “Experts” should be able to see a little more of what’s coming. And it won’t be the status quo. Anyone can predict based on the past. Check back in 6 months and you’ll see what I mean.

    • You are exactly correct! Phil Steele didn’t appreciate me at all when I reposted all of his misses over the past two seasons which were more misses than hits…..and they call themselves experts. It’s more accurate to say talking heads because at this point it is only noise coming out of their heads.

  • This looks to be a pretty accurate list. Mizzou may sneak in the picture, but Indiana is not a guarenteed win for them. Ole Miss and Vandy should beat them, and the Tennessee game will be another good one

  • …….In this year’s SEC championship…..We won’t be beaten by the clock or Ala.!…..GO DAWGS!

  • Well, you were spot on for Ole Miss!
