Previous Schedule Articles:

No game in the SEC is ‘easy’, but some teams definitely have easier roads in the first five weeks than others. So, let’s call them more favorable or less difficult.

Here are the easier August/September slates:

1. Missouri Tigers

Overall schedule Rank: #8
Non-conference rank: #12

  • Aug. 31 – Murray State
  • Sept. 7 – Toledo
  • Sept. 14 – Bye
  • Sept. 21 – at Indiana
  • Sept. 28 – Arkansas State

Mizzou Buzz: Missouri plays its four non-conference games in the first five weeks and has the SEC’s most favorable early season schedule. Toledo and Arkansas State could become interesting games, while Murray State and Indiana scare no one.

2. Mississippi State Bulldogs

Overall schedule rank: #7
Non-conference rank: #5

  • Aug. 31 – vs. Oklahoma State
  • Sept. 7 – Alcorn State
  • Sept. 14 – at Auburn
  • Sept. 21 – Troy
  • Sept. 28 – Bye

MSU Buzz: Oklahoma State presents an interesting challenge for MSU, and it’s not “easy” per se, but it’s manageable. Remember, OSU won eight games last season, so it will be a challenge. Follow-up games against Alcorn State, Auburn and Troy are all winnable, but a road trip to an improved Auburn offense will be tough.

3. Florida Gators

Overall schedule rank: #5
Non-conference rank: #2

  • Aug. 31 – Toledo
  • Sept. 7 – at Miami
  • Sept. 14 – Bye
  • Sept. 21 – Tennessee
  • Sept. 28 – at Kentucky

Florida Buzz: Toledo and Miami aren’t easy games by any means. The Rockets won nine, while Miami won seven, and both will challenge Florida early in the year as they establish their identity. The Gators get a bye week before hosting Tennessee and traveling to Kentucky. Both games are arguably Florida’s two most favorable SEC opponents.
