SEC’s easiest October schedules

Previous Schedule Articles:

No game or schedule in the SEC is ‘easy’, but some teams definitely have easier opponents in October than others. So, let’s call them more favorable or less difficult.

Here are the most favorable October schedules:

1. Alabama Crimson Tide

Overall schedule Rank: #14
Non-conference rank: #13

  • Oct. 5 – Georgia State
  • Oct. 12 – at Kentucky
  • Oct. 19 – Arkansas
  • Oct. 26 – Tennessee

Tide Buzz: Nick Saban will tell you his team has to be focused to go undefeated the month of October, but it should be a cakewalk. The combined wins of the month’s four opponents are 12. All four finished under six wins in 2012. That’s all you need to know.

2. Georgia Bulldogs

Overall schedule Rank: #8
Non-conference rank: #3

  • Oct. 5 – at Tennessee
  • Oct. 12 – Missouri
  • Oct. 19 – at Vanderbilt
  • Oct. 26 – Bye

UGA Buzz: Georgia plays August/September’s toughest schedule, but things get much easier in October. Vanderbilt looks to be the month’s toughest opponent, and UGA should finish 3-0 for the month.

3. Mississippi State Bulldogs

Overall schedule Rank: #7
Non-conference rank: #5

  • Oct. 5 – LSU
  • Oct. 12 – Bowling Green
  • Oct. 19 – Bye
  • Oct. 24 – Kentucky

MSU Buzz: LSU will be a physically punishing game, but the Bulldogs should find relief against Bowling Green and Kentucky. MSU should finish above .500 for the month before the brutal November five-game stretch sets in.

  1. Alabama’s schedule is always a little easier considering they never have to play Alabama. UK is quite the opposite.
