The SEC has star power returning in 2013, and several of them will be mentioned with respect to the Heisman throughout the season.
Obviously, Johnny Manziel returns to try and accomplish the back-to-back stiff arm feat that has only been mastered by one Archie Griffin in 1974 and 1975. Manziel can join that exclusive club with another one this year. But if we’ve learned anything over the course of Heisman history its that past winners shouldn’t be the favorite to win the award again.
Along with Johnny Manziel, three other SEC players join Ohio State’s Braxton Miller as the top five players to win the award, according to Vegas and Bovada.
Most notably, Jadeveon Clowney has moved into that No. 3 slot behind Manziel and Miller. Bama’s TJ Yeldon and AJ McCarron round out the top five. Of the 15 players listed below, the SEC has five of them and all are ranked in the top seven.
