Note: Rankings change after every commitment on 247Sports.

Texas A&M started out red hot in in the 2014 recruiting class, and the Aggies were the frontrunners for the first couple of months. Texas took over the top spot for a few weeks, and now the Aggies returned to their early dominant form and are pacing the entire country in recruiting.

The SEC currently has seven of the top 14 classes in the country.

Here’s how the SEC stacks up against each other.

Rankings are based on composite team rankings from 247Sports.com.

  • I’m tempted to say I’m worried about our recruiting at this point, but it’s early in the year and I’ve got faith that Spurrier and crew will pull out another top-15 class by NSD. I expect to see Shaq Davidson commit pretty soon, and hopefully momentum will pick up from there.

  • Doesn’t anyone in their right mind think Alabama will not end up being #1 in the SEC AND #1 in the country again this year??? All recruits want to go to Alabama IF Saban makes an offer. The rankings at this time of year mean absolutely nothing.

    • I think year Alabama won’t finish No. 1. I think LSU finishes with the top class based on the top talent in the state alone. Just my thoughts in May.

  • Alabama will have a lot recruiting competition for the 2014 crown, mainly from LSU and Texas A&M. Louisiana is the early hotbed for 5-star talent, with guys like RB Leonard Fournette, OT Cameron Robinson, and ATH Speedy Noil. Alabama, as well as every other major program, have already sent offers their way. LSU and Bama have been very efficient in recruiting and developing RB’s in recent past, so they will both be major players in trying to land Fournette. OT Cameron Robinson has already narrowed his commitment to either LSU or Bama. Alabama might be able to steer him to Tuscaloosa with the expected departure of LT Cyrus Kouandjio after the 2013 season. Saban is always making strides to keep the defensive line stocked, so they’ll also be in the hunt for a number of D-lineman, including DE’s Da’Shawn Hand and Myles Garrett, and DT’s Andrew Brown and Lamont Gaillard. 5-star DB Marlon Humphrey has kept quiet about his college destination, but many feel that Alabama has the edge over Florida State. Marlon’s father, Bobby, was a standout RB for the Tide in the late ’80s. Alabama may not win the 2014 recruiting title, but Nick Saban and company have been very solid at preparing to replace holes for future squads. I look to see the trend continue for this recruiting year.
