It’s early January, and that means recruiting season will become more insane than you ever dreamed it could in the next few days National Signing Day is February 6th, and teams have less than a month to make their pitch to the uncommitted. Let’s take a look at where your SEC team is ranked nationally and within the conference, and one player who now tops the wish list. Rankings are based on composite team rankings from 247Sports.com.

LSU
26 commitments
No. 1 class in SEC
No. 5 class in the country
Headlined by OT Ethan Pocic, DE Kendell Beckwith and and DT Greg Gilmore
Wish list: DE Robert Nkemdiche – Nkemdiche named LSU and Ole Miss finalists for his services, and LSU is hopeful in the final two. He is the biggest fish still list on the board and is an Ole Miss lean.
![]()
Florida
25 commitments
No. 2 class in SEC
No. 7 class in the country
Headlined by CB Vernon Hargreaves III, RB Kelvin Taylor and OLB Daniel McMillian
Wish list: DT Montravius Adams – Adams is said to be down to two finalists in Florida and Clemson. He just came off a recent visit to Florida with his mother, and most feel Florida isn’t an option. However, they’re right in the thick of things for Adams.
![]()
Alabama
20 commitments
No. 3 class in SEC
No. 8 class in the country
Headlined by OLB Jonathan Allen, TE OJ Howard and ATH Derrick Henry
Wish list: OT Laremy Tunsil – I know Montravius Adams and Robert Nkemdiche are both on the wish list, but Tunsil is a monster talent like what’s on the offensive line now. Tunsil is the biggest fish with the most realistic shot to land in Tuscaloosa.

Georgia
29 commitments
No. 4 class in SEC
No. 9 class in the country
Headlined by QB Brice Ramsey, S Tray Matthews and OLB Leonard Floyd
Wish list: DT Montravius Adams – With Rodney Garner now gone as the recruiting coordinator, the chances for Adams may have left with him. However, Georgia will still make a strong push for the in-state monster defensive tackle at a real position of need.
![]()
Vanderbilt
21 commitments
No. 5 class in SEC
No. 12 class in the country
Headlined by RB Johnathan Ford, LB Nigel Bowden, and QB Johnathon McCrary
Wish list: CB Jalen Ramsey – The USC Trojans commit and local Nashville prospect Ramsey is on everyone’s radar, especially since Monte Kiffin is gone. The Dores are desperately trying to make up ground on Ramsey to stay home, but it’s a longshot.
![]()
Texas A&M
34 commitments
No. 6 class in SEC
No. 13 class overall
Headlined by ATH Ricky Seals-Jones, WR Derrick Griffin and DT Justin Manning
Wish list: CB MacKensie Alexander – The Aggies need defensive players with so much talent leaving this year. And they could land a premier lockdown-type corner for the future with Alexander.
![]()
Auburn
15 commitments
No. 7 class in SEC
No. 15 class in the country
Headlined by DE Carl Lawson, DT Dee Liner and DE Tashawn Bower
Wish list: LB Reuben Foster – The one-time Auburn and Alabama commit Foster is still undecided on where he will attend college. However, it would not surprise anyone if he went crawling back to the Tigers on signing day.
![]()
South Carolina
20 commitments
No. 8 class in SEC
No. 16 class in the country
Headlined by LB Larenz Bryant, DT Kelsey Griffin and RB David Williams
Wish list: DT Keith Bryant – Pull Bryant out of the state of Florida over both Miami and FSU would be a big win for the Gamecocks, but it’s an uphill battle. USC, however, still remains on the list.
![]()
Ole Miss
20 commitments
No. 9 class in SEC
No. 18 class in the country
Headlined by DT Lavon Hooks, ATH Nickolas Brassell and ATH Jeremy Liggins
Wish list: DE Robert Nkemdiche – At this point in the game missing on Robert Nkemdiche would be a huge disappointment And Nkemdiche isn’t the only big fish still left on the board, as WR Laquon Treadwell has the Rebels high, too.
![]()
Tennessee
18 commitments
No. 10 class in SEC
No. 23 class in the country
Headlined by WR Ryan Jenkins, ATH Jalen Reeves-Maybin and OT Austin Sanders
Wish list: DE Carl Lawson – Is the Auburn commit wavering? Tennessee looks like the team with momentum for Lawson in January right now. Could the Vols flip Lawson on signing day? Keep an eye on this one.
![]()
Mississippi State
21 commitments
No. 11 class in SEC
No. 27 class in the country
Headlined by RB Ashton Shumpert, WR Corey Smith and DE Chris Jones
Wish list: CB MacKensie Alexander – With two senior corners in Darius Slay and Johnthan Banks leaving, Alexander would have a chance to step in and play from day one at MSU.
![]()
Missouri
18 commitments
No. 12 class in SEC
No. 33 class in the country
Headlined by S Chase Abbington, QB Trent Hosick and DT Antar Thompson
Wish list: DT Josh Augusta – Mizzou needs some big bodies in the trenches, and Augusta fits the mold to get early playing time and helps build depth at a big position of need.
![]()
Arkansas
13 commitments
No. 13 class in SEC
No. 49 class in the country
Headlined by CB Carroll Washington, TE Hunter Henry and QB Austin Allen
Wish list: RB Alex Collins – Wisconsin was considered a favorite to land Collins due to their power running game, and now Bret Bielema is on Collins at Arkansas. Florida, Arkansas and Miami are the three teams that will battle for Collins’ signature.
![]()
Kentucky
17 commitments
No. 14 class in SEC
No. 66 class in the country
Headlined by DE Za’Darius Smith, DE Alvonte Bell and DT Jacob Hyde
Wish list: QB Asiantii Woulard – Woulard was set to make a decision at the Army All-American game, and then he decided he wasn’t so sure. Woulard will make a visit to Kentucky this weekend. The Cats will try and close the deal on the star dual-threat QB.

Interesting thoughts. I think Georgia is still one of the finalists for Montravius Adams. He said his mom has been very influential in his decision making process and she loved the visit to UGA.
I’m not sure about Carl Lawson to Tennessee. The latest article I read seemed like he was more interested in flipping his commitment from Auburn to Clemson.
Auburn is still in it because of Rodney Garner. Clemson and Florida are warmer than Georgia. But you never know with these young men…
Funny how recruiting works. Garner might be the reason Adams commits to Auburn while also being the reason Carl Lawson de-commits from Auburn.
Jon,
I know this is nitpicking and its just crappy luck but you wrote your article during the two day period where 247sports had pushed some code and was having an issue within the team rankings section. ex: msu went from 11th to 27th and now back to 13th in a two day span without gaining or losing a commitment.

Wow. Very interesting indeed. I’ll update the rankings moving forward…no worries. Thanks for that.
sure thing jon, just happened to be bad timing when you wrote your update
“Georgia is my next visit and they are pretty high for me right now.” Adams said. “Some people think they have dropped because coach Rodney Garner is gone, but I still want to meet whoever they hire at defensive line coach. They could end up bringing in someone better than him.” -Montraveous Adams earlier this week. From what I hear we did get an upgrade in Chris Wilson and even if we lose Adams we still have Atkins and Mayes at 6’4 300+
Adams, Mathews, Floyd, Atkins, Fluker and Rankin could all see serious playing time on that UGA D.
