The SEC’s top returners: Kickers

In the coming series, SDS will take a look at the SEC’s most productive returners over the next few weeks broken down by position. Next up are the kickers.

All positions:

I’m all about giving kickers some love on SDS. After all, they are the forgotten souls and the ones usually blamed for close losses. With the SEC’s top kicker in Florida’s Caleb Sturgis now graduated, Vandy’s Carey Spear is the top returner from 2012. He made 83.3 percent of his field goals.

This is not a ranking, and it’s based on field goal percentage:

1. Carey Spear, Vanderbilt
2012 stats: 20 of 24 FG (83.3%), 27 of 27 on PATs

2. Cody Parkey, Auburn
2012 stats: 11 of 14 FG (78.9%), 27 of 27 on PATs

3. Michael Palardy, Tennessee
2012 stats: 9 of 12 FG (75%), 37 of 40 on PATs

4. Andrew Baggett, Missouri
2012 stats: 14 of 20 FG (70%), 33 of 37 on PATs

5. Devon Bell, Mississippi State
2012 stats: 14 of 21 FG (66.7%), 43 of 44 on PATs
