Four SEC juniors declared yesterday for NFL; SEC totals 29 leaving early

Four SEC underclassmen decided to forgo their senior season and jump to the NFL early yesterday. Tennessee DE Darrington Sentimore, LSU OT Chris Faulk, Georgia DT Kwame Geathers and Bama OT DJ Fluker are all leaving school early.

Fluker and Faulk are understandable even though Faulk was injured in 2012. However, Geathers and Sentimore are more of a surprise, because both could have certainly used another year before heading to the next level. Geathers was talented but not even a starter, and Sentimore is one of the biggest surprises yet to announce his declaration.

Here’s updated list of 29 players, and 10 of them are from LSU:

  • Sheldon Richardson, DT, Missouri
  • Marcus Lattimore, RB, South Carolina
  • Knile Davis, RB, Arkansas
  • Justin Hunter, WR, Tennessee
  • Tyler Bray, QB, Tennessee

  • Tharold Simon, CB, LSU

  1. I hope LSU didn’t have many seniors! If so they’re screwed!

  2. I think once Rodney Garner, UGA’s former defensive line coach, left for Auburn, Kwame Geathers decided it was time to move on to the next level. He could have used another year at Georgia though.
