Appears Missouri hasn’t given Dorial Green-Beckham release

NCAA Football: Florida at Missouri

According to CBS Sports’ Jeremy Fowler, Missouri apparently has yet to release Dorial Green-Beckham from his scholarship.

Following a chain of events, DGB was dismissed nearly a month ago, and it was reported last week that Green-Beckham was looking Eastern Illinois’ direction for a possible transfer.

EIU inquired about DGB’s status from Missouri this week, and they were told the school couldn’t discuss his enrollment with or transfer to a new team. Missouri spokesman also wouldn’t comment on DGB’s status with the team. Mizzou’s spring semester ends May 16; maybe that’s when the Tigers will officially hand DGB his release.

Former UK quarterback Jalen Whitlow is also expected to be looking EIU’s direction for a possible landing spot, and he’s set to visit the school in the near future.

  • This is an interesting story. It sounds like there is an appeal going on to me. It could be that the testimony of the girls has been recanted. This wouldn’t shock me. Even in the words of the alleged victims reported the incident did not sound like a break-in as much as a boy friend-girl friend argument. Being pushed down 4 stairs might have been more accurately something less insignificant. I don’t want to minimize Beckham’s propensity to hang out with pot smokers and maybe he himself be a pot smoker, but burglars don’t break in to their girlfriends house while the whole incident is being witnessed. ESPN put Missouri in the hot seat with the S.M.C. ‘between the lines’ program so maybe Missouri was trying to dis-arm ESPN on this one. I’m curious about why neither Jamis Winston incident has been the subject of a ‘between the lines’. Is ESPN picking winners here? and if they, are wouldn’t that be like “fixing” college football? So maybe congress or the justice department needs to look at ESPN or any news agency that sensationalizes selected events. After all this I do hope Beckham lands on his feet, It seems like that young man’s good side is way bigger than these incidents which in my opinion have all be blown out of proportion. We don’t know if there is behavior unreported, but evidently his brother, and family are still a welcome part of the Mizzou crew. Something’s not right yet on this.

    • Perhaps an appeal may be happening, but perhaps his parents just haven’t signed the papers yet? I doubt Missouri is intentionally delaying anything though.

  • Dear Lord, please know at least a little bit about what you’re talking about before you post some random, phantom article. Haha, you don’t know anything about the situation, you haven’t done any true journalism yet for this piece. Who let you post this??

    • So according to you it should be easy to add information to this. But you had a chance and didn’t do it. So you must not know any facts yourself, and if you don’t, why do you doubt someone else’s. This is a blog, thanks for participating, but you didn’t yet.
